Floating Action is Seth Kauffman, a red bearded Blue Ridge mountain-biking brother who has made five records on which he writes, records and plays all the instruments himself. Floating Action's fifth, most soothing offering, Fake Blood, was released September 4th and championed by none other than Jim James of My Morning Jacket via his label, Removador Recordings & Solutions (as a co-release with Harvest Recordings in Asheville, NC).
The band released the videos for "Not What I Came For" & "Matador" (the fourth and seventh tracks from Flake Blood, respecively), to the public recently.

The music of Floating Action reflects the relativity and natural laws gleaned from immersion in Kauffman's abundant outdoor activities, as well as a high standard for originality and overall quality. Seth is a pro-level mountain biker and snowboarder who longboards, hikes and spends way too much time on trails in the mountains. Jim James became a fan of Seth's previous record Desert Etiquette - an album he calls "a relatively unknown masterwork of our times. Floating Action has released four albums to date, two of which were released on Park the Van Records.

Floating Action has previously toured with Band of Horses, My Morning Jacket, Dr. Dog, Grace Potter & the Nocturnals, Delta Spirit and has announced select dates this summer.

STEREOSPREAD

FREE: STEREOSPREAD is an electropop band and production team based out of Western North Carolina producing intoxicating electronic pop music that evokes the full spectrum of human emotion. Band members Sara Snyder and James Hopkins were introduced via a mutual producer friend�??s post on Facebook. Their connection was instantaneous and a month later, James moved from Florida to NC. James and Sara have worked side by side ever since, writing music that reflects the ups and downs of life. They also teamed up with talented Australian artist, Shane Gallagher, who has created many hand-drawn images and photo manipulations inspired by the band�??s music.

STEREOSPREAD released their debut EP, The Ghost and The Grave, in November of 2012. The EP is a concept album of six songs whose texts were taken from fictional �??historical papers�?? found in an abandoned family�??s mansion in the make-believe town of Hollow Gap, NC. STEREOSPREAD released a second EP, The Heart and The Thief, exclusively on the social media site, Fanattac, in January 2013. Currently, James and Sara are working to complete a full-length album, the eponymous STEREOSPREAD, to be released in the summer of 2013. As a production team, they are also working on projects with Heart & Thief label-mate, King George VIII, as well as remixes for Haap, Analog Angel, Ask You in Gray, Sexbots, and Bella Muerte.

Big Nasty Jazz Band

FREE: Asheville, NC's Big Nasty Jazz Band will be playing hot jazz and blues for the listening and dancing pleasure of all at Western Carolina University. Since getting their start performing on the streets of Asheville in early 2011, they've been knocking the socks off of audiences at home and beyond, bringing back the '20s and '30s with music that's sometimes sweet, sometimes hot, and always played with an infectious enthusiasm and respect for their jazz elders.
