Carolina Chocolate Drops

FAPAC THEATRE
Tuesday, September 21, 2010, 7:30 – 10:30pm

“Dirt-floor-dance electricity!” ...that's how Rolling Stone Magazine describes the Carolina Chocolate Drops’ style.

The band recognizes that banjos and black string musicians first got here on slave ships, but now it’s everyone’s music and it’s OK to mix it up and go where the spirit moves. In the summer and fall of 2005, Dom Flemons, Rhiannon Giddens, and Justin Robinson, traveled every Thursday night to the home of old-time fiddler Joe Thompson for a musical jam session. The three later formed a band in tribute to Thompson, using the lessons he had taught them to bring traditional music with an evolved twist to audiences. They made history when they took the stage at the Grand Old Opry in 2008. In 2010, the group released “Genuine Negro Jig” and confirmed its place in the music pantheon.

BUY TICKETS NOW

Buy Tickets: www.ticketreturn.com…
Website: www.carolinachocolatedrops.com
