DESCRIPTION:<br><p>Still-life painting is often thought of as the lowest
genre in painting\; it is the thing you paint when learning to paint. H
owever\, throughout art history\, there are moments when still life take
s center stage\, such as the Dutch still-life painters in the 17th centu
ry and the Impressionist paintings in the 19th century\, showing its ver
satility and importance. Still life can be used to show narrative\, time
\, place\, and identity. This summer research project focused on explori
ng how object selection\, compositional conventions\, materiality of med
ia\, and the use of value and color aid in delivering content and convey
ing stories implied in the objects artists may select to make paintings
about.</p> <p>The research began by reading &#8220\;Looking at the Overl
ooked&#8221\; by Norman Bryson. Bryson&#8217\;s book looks at the origin
s of still life and moves through western art history up to cubism. Whil
e Bryson connects still life to the &#8220\;low plane reality&#8221\; of
daily life through the objects presented on the tables in the paintings
\, it also links it to broader cultural conversations by discussing what
is sometimes seen around and beyond the still life. Through this proces
s\, this project brought mystery and curiosity to the mundane\, alluded
to current events\, touched on identity\, and reminded ourselves that li
 fe is fleeting.</p> <p>Alexandra Combass\, senior\, Art\; Marissa Riddel

of assigning a retrospective self-narrative project to support injury re
covery&#160\;</strong></p> <p>The purpose of this presentation is to dis
cuss the benefits of using a retrospective self-narrative research proje
ct as a mechanism to explore athletes&#8217\; lived experiences of retur
ning to sport competition after recovering from multiple successive inju
ries. Many athletes struggle with the psychological and psychosocial fac
tors associated with returning to sport\, despite being physically clear
ed to play by sports medicine professionals. As part of the presentation
 \, two student-athletes &#8212\; Lily Hines and Caitlin Boden &#8212\; w
ill present the unique findings from their own self-narrative projects\,
and how engaging in the project assisted in their own injury recovery p

effectiveness through evidence-based equipment selection aligned with cu

ports the use of real-time feedback systems\, movement analysis tools\,
and applied assessment technologies to improve student engagement\, skil
 l acquisition\, and clinical reasoning.</p> <p>The proposed laboratory r
esources are designed to bridge theoretical biomechanics concepts with h
ands-on application\, allowing students to visualize force production\,
joint mechanics\, and movement patterns in meaningful ways. By integrati

n the gothic\, rather than the strictly realist\, literary tradition. Th
rough the lens of the gothic\, &#8220\;Mansfield Park&#8221\; is unveile

le Eastern Studies\;</p> <p>This presentation explores the important rol
e the Arabic language played in the development of Urdu as a scholarly a
nd religious language. It examines the historical background of Urdu&#82
17\;s formation\, which emerged from the interaction of Persian with loc
al Indian dialects following the arrival of Muslims on the Indian subcon
tinent. The session then discusses how Arabic influenced Urdu orthograph
ically\, lexically\, and morphologically\, as well as its broader impact
on the culture and administration of the Delhi Sultanate. Additionally
\, Arabic shaped Urdu in religious and scholarly contexts\, playing a cru
cial role in the formation of Muslim identity in the subcontinent\, as U
rdu became closely associated with that identity.</p> <p><strong><span s

aims to establish an in-depth understanding of the distinct differences
and similarities between French and American advertising such as compara
tive advertising\, authority appeals\, emic descriptors\, stylistic choi
ces\, etc. The mesh between these two cultures through English Borrowing
s (EB&#39\;s) and &quot\;Frenglish&quot\; is examined as well as how the
French government controls them. It identifies the lack of a &quot\;uni
versal language&quot\; of advertising and how this can pose challenges t
o advertisers entering foreign markets\, while also identifying shared b
road elements across diverse advertising cultures.</p> <p>&#160\;</p>
