Aoife will be joined by Hawktail, an acoustic music supergroup composed of bassist Paul Kowert, fiddler Brittany Haas, guitarist Jordan Tice, and mandolinist Dominick Leslie.

About Aoife O'Donovan:

A savvy and generous collaborator, Aoife is one-third of the group I'm With Her with bandmates Sara Watkins and Sarah Jarosz. The trio's debut album, "See You Around," was hailed as "willfully open-hearted" by NPR Music. I'm With Her earned an Americana Music Association Award in 2019 for Duo/Group of the Year, and a Grammy Award in 2020 for Best American Roots Song. O'Donovan spent the preceding decade as co-founder and frontwoman of the string band, Crooked Still and is the featured vocalist on The Goat Rodeo Sessions -- the group with Yo-Yo Ma, Stuart Duncan, Edgar Meyer, and Chris Thile.

About Hawktail:

Acoustic quartet Hawktail released their third album "Place of Growth" in 2022. A journey designed for a single sitting, the new music celebrates the band's "connection through time," as well as the growing musical identities of each band member (Brittany Haas, Paul Kowert, Dominick Leslie and Jordan Tice). A favorite on the summer bluegrass scene, Hawktail is a regular performer at such esteemed festivals as the Telluride Bluegrass Festival.

Event Name: Aoife O'Donovan & Hawktail
Organization: Newman Center for the Performing Arts
Charge for admission?: TRUE
Categories: Featured Event
Event Locator: 2023-ADRMQMDU Events (for PioneerWeb): Combinedhttp://uid.trumba.com/event/9355793022024-03-31T06:00:00Z2024-03-31T06:00:00ZSpring Quarter Last Day to Register without Late FeeSunday, March 31, 2024

Organization: Registrar, Office of the
Event Name: Spring Quarter
Categories: Calendar - Late Registration
Event Locator: 2013-AAIWKKDU Events (for PioneerWeb): Combinedhttp://uid.trumba.com/event/8410635582024-04-01T06:00:00Z2024-04-01T06:00:00ZSpring Quarter $25 Late Registration Fee: First Time RegistrantsMonday, April 1, 2024

Organization: Registrar, Office of the
Event Name: Spring Quarter
Categories: Calendar - Late Registration
Event Locator: 2023-ADQFAXDU Events (for PioneerWeb): Combinedhttp://uid.trumba.com/event/8410551072024-04-01T06:00:00Z2024-04-01T06:00:00ZSpring Quarter Quarter BeginsMonday, April 1, 2024

Organization: Registrar, Office of the
Event Name: Spring Quarter
Categories: Calendar - Registrar Main
Event Locator: 2023-ADQFASDU Events (for PioneerWeb): Combinedhttp://uid.trumba.com/event/11314050762024-04-02T01:30:00Z2024-04-02T01:30:00ZJunior recital: Natacha Cóndor, voiceNewman Center for the Performing Arts - Hamilton Hall
Monday, April 1, 2024, 7:30 – 9:30pm

Program link to come
Livestream link to come
Free admission, no ticket required

Natacha Cóndor is pursuing the Bachelor of Music in performance. The focus is always on process—to produce a large body of work responding to a particular idea without being limited by set expectations of the finished product.

Treating books as an art form is a natural expression for Judy because of her love of paper, paper forms, words, ink, images and narrative. The first book she made was in the mid-70s and it opened a world of possibilities leading into an open-ended lifelong exploration of layered storytelling. She embraces collaboration and has worked closely with poets, sculptors, printmakers and bookbinders. Her professional life has always been deeply rooted in guiding and encouraging younger artists. She was a Professor of Design for three decades at universities in California, Colorado and Washington. In 2016 she received the Denver Art Museum Gold Key Award given to an exemplary artist who has made significant contributions to contemporary art in Colorado. She is the founding director of PlatteForum in 2002, an award-winning arts and youth serving organization. Her artist books are in collections around the world including the Museum of Modern Art, Metropolitan Museum of Art, Victoria and Albert Museum, Getty Research Institute, Frankfurt Book Fair Archival Collection and universities throughout the country.

Learn more about Judy Anderson and her work at https://judyandersonstudio.com/.

Judy Anderson will be present at the reception and will share insights into her creative process during a talk and gallery tour after a poetry reading by Ginny Hoyle at 6:00 P.M. It's a chance to engage with the artist and gain a deeper understanding of her artistic journey.

Join us for an evening of artistic inspiration, mingling with fellow art enthusiasts, and enjoying refreshments. She has received numerous commissions and guest conducting invites, working with over 90 groups in over 30 countries. Her music blurs the lines between genres, making her long list of commissioners quite varied, stretching from Jazz at Lincoln Center, to The Saint Paul Chamber Orchestra, to collaborating with David Bowie. She is among a small few to have received Grammy's in multiple genres, having received the award in both jazz and classical categories, as well as for her work with David Bowie.

She and her orchestra have a distinguished recording career with 14 Grammy nominations and 7 Grammy awards. Unique funding of projects has become a hallmark through the trendsetting company, ArtistShare. Her album, "Concert in the Garden" (2004) became historic as the first recording to win a Grammy with internet-only sales; even more significantly, it blazed the crowdfunding trail as ArtistShare’s first release. It was also selected to be in the Library of Congress’s very select National Recording Registry. Schneider and her orchestra have received many honors by the Jazz Journalists Association, Downbeat and JazzTimes Critics and Readers Polls. In 2012, the University of Minnesota, Schneider’s alma mater, presented her with an honorary doctorate. ASCAP awarded her their esteemed Concert Music Award in 2014.

With her album, "Data Lords," Schneider has melded her advocacy and art:??

Nate Chinen of NPR writes: “Now it's finally here, in the form of a magnificent double album, 'Data Lords'. . . it parses into thematic halves, "The Digital World" and, as an antidote, "The Natural World." On the whole and in the details, it amounts to the most daring work of Schneider's career, which sets the bar imposingly high. This is music of extravagant mastery, and it comes imbued with a spirit of risk."?

David Hajdu for THE NATION writes, “Beyond the dualism in its format, 'Data Lords' is a work of holistic creativity.
