75 YouTube Videos Later: Lessons learned from creating 'good enough' Extension videos as a non-professional videographer
Heidi Rader, University of Alaska Fairbanks professor of Extension, will discuss how and why to re-purpose one story into multiple outreach products: from an article to a blog post to a video and more. Drawing on almost two decades of experience producing dozens of YouTube videos and writing a successful blog, this session will equip non-videographer educators with practical tools for creating 'good enough' videos. Participants will learn how to identify story ideas, choose between scripted or interview-style approaches, consider their target audience, and improve audio and video quality using simple techniques.
This session will focus on building a repeatable content workflow that helps educators adapt their messages across formats efficiently, while adapting the content for different target audiences to maximize reach and maintain relevance.
The talk is geared to Extension professionals at land-grant universities throughout the United States. Register using the online form.

Webinar: Drying Firewood in Interior Alaska: strategies for the most efficient drying times
This winter’s record-cold temperatures in Interior Alaska have highlighted the value of firewood as an efficient and cost-saving heat source. However, many who live here know the significant time and effort it takes for trees in the forest to become usable and dry firewood. This presentation will explain how you can apply the important and practical results of a firewood drying study conducted by University of Alaska Fairbanks Forestry researchers, Dr. Jessie Young-Robertson and Matt Robertson. Learn how to implement efficient strategies for harvesting and drying firewood to reduce firewood drying times by up to 6 months.
