POSTPONED: Mud Day at Georgeson Botanical Garden

Due to ongoing issues with the garden's water supply, Mud Day has been postponed. This will be updated when a new date is set. , The Muddy Fun, We are breaking out a giant slip ’n slide that leads right into a massive mud pit and a few sprinklers to keep everyone splashing. For those who want to create rather than dive in, we will have a couple of craft tables set up for messy art. Bring a towel and your biggest splash. We can't wait to see you there! Statewide: Online Certified Food Protection Manager training

The University of Alaska Fairbanks Cooperative Extension Service will offer a certified food protection manager training on Tuesday, July 7, with a proctor for testing available in Fairbanks. A certified food protection manager is responsible for ensuring that a food establishment complies with regulations. State regulations require that all such facilities have at least one certified food protection manager on staff. Participants are encouraged to register for the training as early as possible in order to receive the study guide ahead of time. The training will be held from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. via Zoom or in person at the Tanana District office in the Community and Technical College building, 604 Barnette St. Fairbanks. Those in Fairbanks can take the proctored certification exam immediately after the class. If requested, proctors may be available in additional communities. Festival Orchestra and Choirs: Sounds of the Summer!

Instructors: Donald Brinegar and Karen Miskell, , The Polaris Chamber Choir present nine choral works in celebration of America250 with all American composers and "Americana" works! In celebration of the United States Semiquincentennial, this concert is support through a grant the Alaska State Council for the Arts and the National Endowment of the Arts. Polaris will be conducted by guest artists, Karen Miskell and Donald Brinegar. The Fairbanks Summer Arts Festival is thrilled to announce the revival of our Festival Orchestra this year, a program that has been dormant since before the COVID pandemic. Tribute to the Great Jazz Pianists with Ron Drotos, Tribute to the Great Jazz Pianists is a lively musical journey through the world of jazz, focusing on the legacy of the famous jazz pianists. Pianist Ron Drotos pays tribute to early jazz masters such as Jelly Roll Morton, Lil Hardin Armstrong and Duke Ellington, as well as more contemporary jazz innovators including Bud Powell, Dave Brubeck and Chick Corea. Listeners will hear fun anecdotes and interesting historical facts about each pianist and musical numbers include James P. Johnson’s The Charleston, Keith Jarrett’s Memories of Tomorrow, and Bill Evans’ Peace Piece. Composing in the Wilderness with CORVUS

Come hear the Fairbanks Summer Arts Festival's premier new music ensemble, CORVUS, perform the works created by registrants in our 2025 edition of Composing in the Wilderness. Young composers from all over the world come to study with Stephen Lias, as he leads them through a contemplative process of composition, inspired by a week long journey through the wilds of Denali National Park. Through that process, and inspired by the majesty and greatness of the Alaskan wilderness, composers write for our new music ensemble, CORVUS, to play.  Scored for violin, flute, clarinet/saxophone, 'cello, and percussion, these professional orchestral players from around the country (many with direct ties to Fairbanks themselves) assemble in Fairbanks for festival to rehearse these nature inspired works for the stage.
