Responsible Conduct of Research (RCR) Training - Faculty & Staff

Arctic Lights at Georgeson Botanical Garden
Take a stroll through a winter wonderland under the Arctic Lights at the Georgeson Botanical Garden. The garden, on the University of Alaska Fairbanks' Troth Yeddha' Campus, will be festooned with lights on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays, beginning Dec. 19, from 5-9 p.m. through Jan. 18.
Visitors are encouraged to take a walk on the paths between the garden beds, which are tucked in snugly for the winter. Wildlife may wander through, as well, so keep an eye out for moose, porcupines and other creatures that may be stirring on these cold winter nights.
Please stay on the paths and take care, as they may be icy or uneven, depending on weather conditions. Donations are encouraged. Children must be accompanied by an adult.
For more information, contact Lacey Higham, Georgeson directing manager, at lrhigham@alaska.edu or 907-474-6291.

Sitka: Venison Butchering, Processing and Cooking workshop
Learn how to transform a hindquarter from a local Sitka blacktail deer into individual steaks and roasts, prepare these cuts for freezing, and make several tasty meals using this meat. Participants will gain hands-on experience with butchery and cooking and take home several pieces of venison.
The workshop will be led by Ian Derauf, who has been hunting and cooking wild game since he was a teenager. Being involved with his food from field to plate is what first got him excited about cooking, and making meals from what he harvests continues to be a major passion of his.
This two-day workshop is spread over two evenings, 6-8 p.m. Jan. 21-22, 2025, at the Sitka Lutheran Church kitchen, 224 Lincoln St. The cost for the workshop series is $50 and includes all materials. Must be 14 years old or older. Registration deadline is Jan. 18.

Fairbanks Concert Association: Broadway's Next Hit Musical
Broadway’s Next Hit Musical,
Saturday, Feb. 1, 2025, 7:30 p.m. — Salisbury Theatre,
“Whose Line Is It Anyway” meets the Tony Awards! Every song is fresh. Every scene is new. Every night is different. It’s all improvised and it’s all funny.
Broadway’s Next Hit Musical is the only unscripted theatrical awards show. Have you heard of the TONY awards? Well, Broadway’s Next Hit Musical is … the PHONY Awards! Audience members write down made-up song titles and our master improvisers gather these suggestions and present them as “nominated songs” for this coveted award. What comes next are spontaneous scenes and songs filled with great dancing, catchy melodies and tons of laughter.
The audience votes for their favorite song and watches as the cast turns that song into a full-blown improvised musical, complete with memorable characters, witty dialog and plot twists galore. BNHM has been seen throughout the United States and in New York City at the Triad Theater, Tribeca Film Festival and New York Musical…
