LARS Birthday Bash
Join us in celebrating our muskox and reindeer calves turning 1 and the arrival of a new wood bison herd. There won’t be new calves this year (LARS didn't breed last fall as part of our herd management plan), but we will still have our younger animals on display and we have some fun surprises planned for them. We’ll also have family-friendly activities, local organizations, food trucks, and a qiviut raffle. Free and open to all! Minors must be accompanied by an adult. A free shuttle will be offered from the Nenana lot on UAF campus from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Tanana District 4-H market livestock members will host a 4-H Market Tasting event June 6 at the Tanana Valley State Fairgrounds in the 4-H Building upstairs (former Totem Building). Fairbanks: Dining with Diabetes: A diabetes management and food course
Learn the basics of living with and managing diabetes in "Dining with Diabetes: A diabetes management and food course," led by Leslie Shallcross, a UAF Cooperative Extension Service health, home and family development agent. Participants will learn health-promoting lifestyle habits and how to plan meals. Each class will include a discussion and a demonstration of healthy cooking for people with diabetes. This class is for individuals with pre-diabetes or diabetes, and their family members.
The course will be held at the University Park Building Room 154, 1000 University Avenue, Fairbanks on Wednesdays from 5:30-7:30 p.m. June 10, 24 and July 1, 8.

Documenting Extreme Event Impacts Throughout Alaska
Join the UAF Alaska Center for Climate Assessment and Preparedness to learn about documenting extreme events across Alaska. From coastal flooding to winter rain to landslides, extreme weather significantly impacts the lives of Alaskans. This webinar will showcase the process of synthesizing information from newspaper articles, climate model outputs, National Weather Service data, and government reports into clear, accessible two- and four-page fact sheets. Extreme Events Fellow Anjali Shah will also discuss how archival research, science communication, and graphic design come together to produce these materials on a range of high-impact events across Alaska.

Fairbanks: 4-H Wildlife & Wildfire Day Camp
Learn about some of the large animal research at UAF and about wildfires. This day camp will start at the UAF Large Animal Research Station, 2220 Yankovich Road, to view some wildlife and then we will go across the street to the Yankovich Road Wildfire Walk to learn about wildfires, eat lunch and learn about the Firewise Program.
Bring appropriate shoes and clothing for a 40-minute hike. Let us know if there are any food allergies.
This day camp is geared for ages 9-19 as of Oct. 1, 2025. Maximum grade is 12th.

2026 Midnight Sun Run 10K
The Midnight Sun Run 10K is a uniquely Alaskan event, attracting participants from all over the world. The race begins at 10 p.m. on the Saturday closest to the summer solstice. Starting at the University of Alaska Fairbanks campus, participants wind 6.2 miles through area neighborhoods lined with thousands of high-spirited spectators. The course ends at Pioneer Park, where the festivities continue until well after midnight.
The race is chip timed, with an elite runner corral that allows serious runners a place at the head of the race, while also supporting every pace and ability. The costumed division is perhaps one of the most anticipated aspects of the race, showcasing true Fairbanks creativity.

Celebrate the start of the Alaska Nanooks Athletics season with the 4th annual Food Truck Rally!
