2026 Fred Korematsu Day with Satsuki Ina

2026 Fred Korematsu Day of Civil Liberties & the Constitution, featured speaker Satsuki Ina a presentation on resistance & remembrance   Satsuki Ina is a licensed psychotherapist specializing in community trauma. She helps victims of oppression to claim not only their voice but also their power to transform the systems that have oppressed them. Her activism has included cofounding Tsuru for Solidarity, a nonviolent, direct-action project of Japanese American social justice advocates working to end detention sites. Ina has produced two documentaries about the World War II incarceration of Japanese Americans, Children of the Camps and From a Silk Cocoon. My Best Lecture of All Time

Wednesday, January 28, 2026, 5:15 - 6:30pm, Veterans Memorial Building (1425 J Street, Arcata), Join the College of Arts, Humanities & Social Sciences for the next installment of My Best Lecture series.  Native American Studies Lecturer Adolfo Soberanis will present (Re)imagining (Real)ity, a lecture exploring the complexities of our imaginations and their relationship to both the “natural” and “unnatural” worlds. To remedy our cultural state of cognitive dissonance, Soberanis argues, we can use the parenthetical prefix “re-“; however, not without consequences. Soberanis invites us to (re)imagine life outside the parentheses! 'Careers in Art" with HUMAN MADE

'Careers in Art' is a community-engaging event for all students and community members. 'Careers in Art' will showcase the viability of achieving an art career. HUMAN MADE is inviting Humboldt Art businesses, Associations, Councils, and Centers to talk about career development. There will also be opportunities for participants to develop their resumes. Pelican Bay Speaker Series

Dr. Cutcha Risling Baldy is an Associate Professor of Native American Studies at Cal Poly Humboldt who researches Indigenous feminisms, California Indians, Environmental Justice, Traditional Ecological Knowledge and decolonization. She is the Co-Director of the NAS Rou Dalagurr Food Sovereignty Lab & Traditional Ecological Knowledges Institute where she leads several research projects focused on the resurgence of Indigenous Science and place-based learning. This includes the "Food for Indigenous Futures Project" which looks at connections between food justice, food sovereignty, mental health, and substance abuse prevention for Native American Youth.
