Tax Clinic for Artists
This workshop features the campus tax clinic (VITA). This is a workshop where artists can come to learn about the best ways to log and submit taxes to benefit their profession and ask questions.

Cal Poly Humboldt Percussion Ensembles
Join the Cal Poly Humboldt Percussion Ensemble for an exciting and high-energy hour of rhythm and sound on the University Quad! This dynamic performance will showcase a wide variety of music, from contemporary works to jazz fusion, performed on an array of keyboard percussion instruments including marimbas, vibraphones, and glockenspiels, alongside drum set and additional percussion.
The program will also feature the World Percussion Ensemble performing vibrant music from Salvador, Bahia, Brazil. Experience the driving grooves and rich traditions of Brazilian percussion, brought to life through an exciting collection of authentic instruments and infectious rhythms.
This free outdoor concert is open to all!

America’s Nuclear Waste Gridlock and the Future of the Humboldt Bay Spent Fuel Site,
The United States has generated more than 90,000 metric tons of spent nuclear fuel but still lacks a permanent underground repository to store it. As a result, nuclear waste remains stranded at more than seventy sites across the country—including the Humboldt Bay spent fuel storage installation—while federal policy has cycled through decades of stalled initiatives, legal constraints, and partisan policy realignments.
Drawing on his experience as a senior program manager in the U.S. Department of Energy (2022–2025) and more than fifteen years of research on nuclear institutions, anthropologist Vincent Ialenti examines the legal, financial, and cultural forces that have kept the U.S. nuclear waste program in a prolonged state of gridlock. Join us as we celebrate 40 years of the Cal Poly Humboldt Calypso Band, founded by Dr. Eugene Novotney. This year’s special guests include the “Paganini of the steelpan” Liam Teague, rising star Khan Cordice, and 17-year-old prodigy Jaden Teague-Núñez.
The Cal Poly Humboldt Calypso Band brings the vibrant sounds of Trinidad to the stage with high-energy “Calypso” and “Soca” music. Influenced by master composers like Ray Holman and Len “Boogsie” Sharpe—who have written original works for the group—the band’s legacy includes alumni performing at Trinidad’s National Panorama Competition and leading steelbands nationwide.
