Transfer Connections

Bring your lunch and connect with faculty, staff, and fellow transfer students through various events hosted by the Library and campus community.   Stay as long or as little as you want but join us for a social connection, to find your study spot, and get an insider lowdown of campus.  This event starts and ends with the option to join an L4Humboldt session. In between or during these session you can connect with one of our Transfer Connections staff, faculty, and/or other transfer students who will be in Library 114 to meet you until 3pm.   At 11am in this same room and then moving to the UC Quad from 11:30am-12:30pm is Experience Taiko Drumming! At 3pm, there is the option to participate in Summer Mindfulness Space on the 2nd floor in the Fishbowl led by one of the Counseling & Psychological Services counselors who works with students on campus.   For information or accessibility needs, please contact henry.solares@humboldt.edu. Mentoring Youth in Community Research

Young people globally are increasingly engaged in addressing socio-economic problems. At the same time, many of the organizing strategies have focused on mobilizing constituencies such as; environmentalists, people of color or LGBTQ+ groups. Unfortunately, less consideration has been given to allowing more time for young people to self-identify what is important to them. When nurturing more people to participate in civic engagement, especially at the local level, it is essential to ground that process in allowing each participant to ask themselves, “what specific issues most impact me and my community?” Not surprisingly, when given the opportunity, most find answers while discussing similar challenges with other young people who are unafraid to question the social conditions they find themselves in. You are invited to join a crew of mentors of inquisitive young people who wish to discuss and investigate the sources of underlying issues impacting their daily life in Humboldt County. ADPI+MENA Scholar Program Orientation
