Toyon Issue 72 Book Launch

Join us for the release of Toyon 72: Sumud! Featuring live readings from the authors, an award ceremony, a staff recognition, and more. ABOUT ISSUE 72, Sumud is the verbal noun of “samada” meaning “steadfastness,” “perseverance,” or “persistence in the face of adversity.” Sumud refers to a constellation of Palestinian social practices, both individual and collective, that emphasize Indigenous, life-affirming, and everyday acts of resistance and survival in a settler-constructed world that seeks their demise.  WHO WE ARE, Toyon Multilingual Literary Magazine (est. 1954) is the abolitionist and anti-colonial platform for literary, spoken, and visual art edited by students at Cal Poly Humboldt. BDT Goudi'ni Gallery Talk: Bob Benson

Bob Benson (Tsnungwe) will speak on visual themes, stories, and history of Brian Tripp (Karuk) work in the exhibition and across time.    This exhibition focuses on the Karuk Artist’s archive made a part of the Cal Poly Humboldt Library Special Collections in 2023. Focusing on the late artists works exploring dimensions of time and place created within and without. Particular focus on his overlaying of personal texts, symbols, and geometric language. Tripp’s legacy lives on through his artwork and the Red House People Fund run by the Tripp estate benefitting California Native Artists and Arts. Event Title: Artists on Artists talk with Bob Benson. While we mainly have setups for Super Smash Bros Ultimate, we also have other fighting games such as Super Smash Bros.
