A Sweet Slice into Self-Care

During this session we will explore ways in which self care can be incorporated into our everyday lives, it doesn't have to be a grand spa day! As working professionals (especially in the summer time) it's important we take care of our mental health just as we take care of our physical bodies. In this session we will each work on a specific "self care pie recipe" which will include different ways in which we can incorporate small activities into our daily lives. Small tasks such as taking a moment to step out of your office and take a few breaths to ground yourself, taking your lunch outside of your office, or calling a loved one during a break. As you begin doing these small tasks consistently they will become healthy habits. for a reminder! Event Title: L4Humboldt. Organization: EOP, LIBRARY. Radical Contingentism and You

This workshop is for anyone who’s ever wondered how things could have gone differently—personally, cosmically, or otherwise. Through speculative thinking, narrative design, and playful exercises, we’ll explore the radical idea that nothing had to happen the way it did, and ask what becomes possible when we stop assuming the world is fixed. Drawing from queer theory’s liberatory insights—which offer tools for anyone rethinking identity, structure, or possibility—we’ll map alternate selves and futures, and experiment with new ways of learning and becoming. No philosophy background required—just curiosity, openness, and a willingness to unstick reality for a while. for a reminder! Event Title: L4Humboldt. Organization: LIBRARY. Music, Time, Meaning, and You

Existentialism: A Conversation About Music, Time, and You , Ever listen to a song that felt like it knew something about you? That wasn’t coincidence. That’s resonant thinking—a form of cognition often dismissed as “vibes,” but actually rooted in empathy, memory, and attention. In this workshop, we’ll listen to two songs—Steely Dan’s “Reelin’ In the Years” (1972) and Magdalena Bay’s “Killing Time” (2024)—written decades apart in vastly different social and technological contexts, yet both expressing a shared anxiety about time, selfhood, and meaning. We’ll treat them as philosophical texts and listen with care, while also thinking about what Yacht Rock represented, and how it's channeled through modern synthpop. We’ll ask: What is each song saying about time, agency, and the self? , What’s the difference between “analyzing” and “resonating”? , Can music teach us how to think, not just feel? , You don’t need to know existentialism. You just need a lyric that lingered, a willingness to listen,… Event Title: L4Humboldt. Organization: CENTER FOR TEACHING & LEARNING, LIBRARY. Responsible Person at Event Name: Matthew Camacho.
