The program is part of the Exercise is Medicine on Campus initiative to promote exercise as a vital sign of health and make an active lifestyle a part of the daily campus culture. The Daily 5 KM is simple and free and gets students and faculty out of the classroom and school staff out of the office for 25 to 30 minutes every day to walk, jog, or run, at their own pace, with their classmates and peers, making them fitter, healthier, and more able to concentrate in the classroom and the office. This semester, on Monday and Wednesday from noon to 12:50, the EIM-OC club and Kinesiology students will cheer and help campus community members (students, staff, and faculty) do 5 km daily.
