Cal Poly Humboldt Pre-Medical Society

The Pre-Medical Society has asked local prominent plastic surgeon Dr. Mark Pardoe and his matriculated medical student Kaylee Murphy to lead a suturing workshop for our Pre-Med, Pre-PA, Pre-Health students. In this event, Dr. Pardoe will discuss his field, experiences, and talk about the road to medicine first. After that, we will go into a suturing activity where Dr. Pardoe will show us some basic sutures on rubber skin suture pads used for practice. Then, the students will use the available pads, tools (forceps, pick-ups, surgical scisors), and sutures to practice a valuable hands-on skill required in the medical profession. In addition to this, we expect that the new university President Carvajal will be in attendance for this meeting because he grew up in Humboldt County and knows the struggles of retaining skilled medical professionals in our community.
