Explore the Ma-Le'l Dunes

All Events Get to know your new backyard with a guided hike through Ma-le'l Dunes, just 15 minutes from campus. We'll explore the dune trails, walk along beaches where you won't see a soul in sight, and make our way to the North Jetty at the entrance to Humboldt Bay.   This is a great introduction to the incredible places you'll have right in your backyard. As the closest beach area to campus, Ma-le'l Dunes has something for everyone, with opportunities for birdwatching, beachcombing, and enjoying the coastal scenery while meeting other new students. After our hike, we'll drive over to the North Jetty, where you'll see where our largest waves break, where orcas sometimes make an appearance, and learn about the unique conditions that make the entrance to Humboldt Bay both beautiful and one of the most dangerous stretches of coastline on the North Coast.   This trip is a fun way to start discovering all that Humboldt has to offer.   This is for orientation students only.
