29th Annual Day of the Dead Celebration
VPA’s annual Day of the Dead event includes a processional, large-scale altar, Aztec dancers, traditional Mexican refreshments, student club altars, face painting, and an art exhibition––all of which integrate participation from a cross section of student, faculty, staff, and local community members. The Day of the Dead Celebration is also a culmination of a series of hands-on workshops, class presentations, such as the Papel Picado workshop, Sugar Skull Workshop, and DIY Day of the Dead screen-printing workshop.

Drums in Dialogue: Taiko Drumming
CSUMB’s Music Program and Heritage Musics Initiative invite you to a participatory taiko drumming experience led by artist and educator Ikuyo Conant. Explore taiko’s cultural significance, physical energy, and collaborative process while connecting its resonant rhythms to Japanese American and local Monterey music communities. Open to students and the general public, this free event invites everyone, regardless of musical experience, to listen, move, drum, and experience the power of making music together.
