2026 Biennial Tribal Convening
The Cal State Monterey Bay 2026 Biennial Tribal Convening provides an opportunity for faculty, staff and students to engage with Tribal partners, share updates and strengthen relationships across our communities. It is part of our ongoing commitment to fostering dialogue and strengthening a pipeline for education across our region. The convening will include discussions on campus initiatives, student programs and ongoing efforts in cultural heritage, as well as opportunities for open conversation and collaboration. Following the public event from 10 a.m. to noon, we will have a closed session with tribal leaders that is by invitation only.

The Plunge 2026
The Plunge is a spirited CSUMB tradition held at Del Monte Beach near the Wharf in Monterey, CA. On the day before classes begin, students gather to take a bold leap into the Pacific Ocean symbolizing a fresh start and a revitalized commitment to the year ahead. Whether you are jumping in or cheering from the shore, The Plunge is all about community, energy, and starting the semester with courage and connection.
Shuttle transportation will be provided beginning at 7:00 AM from Lot 71 to the Wharf, with return service available until 10:30 AM. The first 1,000 participants to check in at Lot 71 will receive a free give away item. The give away will not be available at the beach, so be sure to check in and pick up your wristband at Lot 71 if you plan to self-drive!
