"Global Women Speak About Leadership In God's Mission"

Our February 1st convoctation speaker is Dr. Mary Lederleitner. She has served in a variety of global leadership roles for the last twenty years. Most of that time has been with the Wycliffe Global Alliance, the last eight years on their global executive team as a consultant in the areas of intercultural collaboration and learning strategies. She recently transitioned out of Wycliffe and founded a new ministry called "Missional Intelligence" in order to devote more time to research and writing. Mary has a MA in Intercultural Studies from Wheaton College and a PhD in Educational Studies from Trinity Evangelical Divinity School, and she serves as an adjunct professor in the graduate programs of both institutions. A Global Education Convocation

The February 15th convocation is sponsored by the Department of Global Education and they bring to us our speaker, Petra Taylor. Petra is the Director of the European Center for the Study of War and Peace. A native of Croatia and a survivor of the recent war in the Balkans, Petra is earning her doctorate in Comparative Literature from Harvard University. She holds an MA in English from Loyola Marymount University, an MEd in TESOL from Boston University, a BA in English from Gordon College, and is fluent in several of the region’s languages. She specializes in South Slavic and Russian literature, and is interested in questions of nationalism and literature, as well as multilingual and exile writers. Organization: Provost's Office. Our convocation presenter, Leslie Moore, will be speaking on the topic of community development. Leslie is a full time urban missionary who moonlights as a social entrepreneur, real estate investor and non-profit consultant. At the core, Leslie is devoted to caring for and bringing hope to members of communities who experience significant challenge, oppression, poverty and isolation. Leslie received her B.A. at Yale University with an emphasis on Political Science, Economics and Psychology. While working with an educational non-profit. Leslie literally took he work home with her and began sharing her home, social networks and out of work time with students without stable homes and positive social networks. This week's convocation speaker is Jeanette Yep. She has been serving on the staff of Grace Chapel (Lexington, MA) as the pastor of global and regional outreach since 2007. For thirty years she was involved in InterVarsity Christian Fellowship where she served in various levels of campus and national leadership, including Vice President and Director of Multiethnic Ministries. Three years before coming to Grace Chapel, she traveled globally for the International Fellowship of Evangelical Students (IFES) as a special director of staff training and development, working with student movements around the world to develop younger leaders. "Auntie Jeanette" is recognized by many for her creative role as emcee of the Urbana Missions Convention in 1990, '93 and '96. She has contributed significantly to IVCF’s commitment to multi-ethnicity in make-up and outreach. Convocation: Faithful Instruction is on Her Tongue (Proverbs 31:26)

Our April 5th convocation speaker is our own Dr. Elaine Philips, Distinguished Professor of Biblical Studies and Harold John Ockenga Professor of Biblical and Theological Studies.Her presentation will be on women and the bible. After receiving her undergraduate degree in social psychology from Cornell University and the Master of Divinity degree from Biblical Theological Seminary, Elaine Phillips, along with her husband, Perry, studied and taught for three years in Israel. Upon their return, they taught at a small Christian junior college outside of Philadelphia from 1979-1992 and Elaine earned her Ph.D. in rabbinic literature from The Dropsie College for Hebrew and Cognate Learning in Philadelphia. She has taught biblical studies at Gordon College since 1993.
