Swing Dance Club

This is a regular meeting of Swing Dance Club. We will meet around 7 p.m. and start with some warm-up dancing, followed by some instructions for beginners on how to dance and then some new moves for intermediate dancers. Conversation with the President: Mike Bontrager

President Lindsay will interview Mike Bontrager as part of the Conversation with the President series. Mike founded Chatham Financial in 1991 as an independent, sole advisor specializing in interest rate risk management. Mike continues to serve as Chatham’s Executive Chairman of the Board. Formerly a Vice President in the Derivative Products Group at Chemical Bank (now JP Morgan Chase), Mike spent nine years in various credit, corporate finance, and derivative roles in New York and Zurich, Switzerland. Convocation: Faithful Instruction is on Her Tongue (Proverbs 31:26)

Our April 5th convocation speaker is our own Dr. Elaine Philips, Distinguished Professor of Biblical Studies and Harold John Ockenga Professor of Biblical and Theological Studies.Her presentation will be on women and the bible. After receiving her undergraduate degree in social psychology from Cornell University and the Master of Divinity degree from Biblical Theological Seminary, Elaine Phillips, along with her husband, Perry, studied and taught for three years in Israel. Upon their return, they taught at a small Christian junior college outside of Philadelphia from 1979-1992 and Elaine earned her Ph.D. in rabbinic literature from The Dropsie College for Hebrew and Cognate Learning in Philadelphia. She has taught biblical studies at Gordon College since 1993. She and Perry have continued to take Gordon students back to Jerusalem University College, where they serve as adjunct faculty for the three-week summer study program in historical geography. Social Justice Initiative: Oxfam Hunger Banquet

The Social Justice Initiative is hosting an Oxfam Hunger Banquet. Oxfam is a leading supporter in the fight against world hunger. This is a dinner to bring about awareness of the starvation that occurs every day in countries around the world. Participants in the dinner are split into groups (“economic classes”) without knowing what their group represents.
