Voice faculty member Dr. Michelle Fiertek, together with pianist Dr. Priyeshni Perera, performs Hoiby's The Italian Lesson and Poulenc's Le dame de Monte Carlo. Based on the monologue by Ruth Draper, The Italian Lesson chronicles the morning activities of a formidable and pretentious Park Avenue matron of the 1920s. Setting out to translate the opening lines of Dante’s Inferno with her Italian teacher, she is continually distracted by her mischievous children and others. Le dame de Monte Carlo tells the mysterious story of a woman's last wild night on earth, gambling her life away at the Monte Carlo casino. This event is free and open to the public.

Foot in the Door
Music
Foot in the Door is a mixed ensemble of musicians whose repertoire includes music of established as well as emerging 20th- and 21st-century composers. Members play in a variety of ensemble sizes from small chamber groups to large chamber orchestras. The ensemble has appeared in several of the nation's major cities, and has been heard on Connecticut Public Radio and WNYC-FM and recorded for Opus One and CRI labels. In addition to works by Hartt students, faculty and alumni, the past several seasons have featured music by world-renowned composers including Adams, Bolcom, Berio, Ligeti, Cage, Schoenberg, Schwantner, Reich, Webern, Messiaen, Boulez, and Stravinsky.

Anthony Bonamici solo recital: piano works by J. K. Paine
Community Division
Anthony Bonamici performs solo piano works by the American composer John Knowles Paine (1839-1906). Paine was highly influential in the establishment of American art music and the legitimization of the field of music in the United States. His piano music is mostly unknown. This concert represents the second program in a series performed by Dr. Bonamici comprising the complete solo piano works of the composer.

Palace Labs is the premier graduate wind quintet of The Hartt School, consisting of Esther Chung (flute), Serena Bratten (oboe), Linus Poon (clarinet), Adam Agonoy (horn), and Luke Ashworth (bassoon). This is the group's first chamber recital. and will present works by Carl Nielsen, Marc Mellits, Ludwig Thuille, and others. The group is coached by Ayako Oshima.

Victoria Scavone will present an Undergraduate Jazz Trumpet Recital featuring works by Clifford Brown, Freddie Hubbard, Roy Hargrove, and Art Blakey and the Jazz Messengers. This is Victoria's first senior recital in fulfillment of an Undergraduate Degree in Jazz Trumpet Performance. She is a student of David Smith.
