Tuvergen Band
Tuvergen Band,
Tuvergen Band (“galloping” in Mongolian) is a Chicago-based folk-fusion trio founded in 2020 by Tamir Hargana (lead vocals, folk lutes, morin khuur), Naizal Hargana (morin khuur, vocals), and Brent Roman (percussion, didgeridoo, vocals). Hailing from Hulunbuir, Inner Mongolia, Tamir and Naizal bring some of this region's most distinctive sounds to the band, including the cello-like horsehead fiddle (morin khuur), various folk lutes (the Tuvan doshpuluur and West Mongolian tovshuur), and khöömii throat singing. Percussionist Brent Roman augments these sounds with a custom hybrid drum kit of twenty global percussion instruments and didgeridoo. The trio use this rich instrumental palette to perform what they call“modern nomadic music,” incorporating bluegrass, blues, rock, and more into its repertoire of Mongolian and Tuvan folk songs and originals.
Co-sponsored by the Music Department and Asian Studies.

INAUGURATION
From: Lynch, Kimberly <lynchk@union.edu> Date: Fri, May 30, 2025 at 11:02?AM, To: Jim McLaughlin <mclaughj@union.edu>
Hi Jim,
It was great seeing you yesterday! I'm writing in my role on the planning committee for President Kiss's inauguration. We're currently looking at scheduling the inauguration during Homecoming and Family Weekend, with the ceremony tentatively set for Friday, October 10th at 4:00 p.m.
For a number of reasons, the Memorial Fieldhouse seems to be the best location for the ceremony. We'd then plan to turn the space over for a celebration event on Saturday evening. In an effort to contain costs, we're also considering asking Admissions to use the Fieldhouse for their Fall Open House on Monday, October 13th.
I realize this is a significant request, but would it be possible to reserve the Fieldhouse starting at 7:00 a.m. on Tuesday, October 7th? We likely wouldn't be able to return the space until October 14th or 15th, depending on breakdown needs.
Let me know what you think,… .

The Musical Magnetism of London
Early Music Ensemble - The Musical Magnetism of London in the 18th Century - Compositions by Avison, Gluck, Loeillet, and Abel
London attracted many composers during the eighteenth century, one of the most famous of whom was the German Georg Frideric Händel. This concert features music by the English composer Charles Avison, who spent several years in the capital city during his twenties; the German-Austrian composer Christoph Willibald von Gluck, who got to know Händel there; the Flemish composer Jean-Baptiste Loeillet, who called himself John after moving to London; and the German composer Carl Friedrich Abel, a friend of one of Johann Sebastian Bach's sons.
