In this call-and-response conversation, Dr. Morgan P. Vickers (University of Washington) invites attendees to sink themselves into the historical geographies, racial ecologies, and meandering wetlands of the Lowcountry South. Drawing upon their book manuscript, Condemned: Damned Swamps, Black Haunts, and the Draining of the Lowcountry, 1865-1945, Dr. Vickers carries listeners through cypress-tupelo swamps, into rural villages, across agricultural lands, and through Southern metropoles.
