2022 TPS Professional Learning Conference: Engaging the Long Arc of the Civil Rights Movement

Join us at the Auburn Avenue Research Library on July 7 and 8 for the 2022 Teaching with Primary Sources (TPS) Professional Learning Conference.  The University of South Carolina’s Teaching with Primary Sources (TPS) Project is collaborating with TPS partners at Mars Hill University and Middle Tennessee State University on a multi-year Civil Rights Fellowship. In partnership with the Auburn Avenue Research Library, we are hosting a two-day professional learning opportunity focusing on the contemporary civil rights movement from the 20th century to present day. This conference is for K-12 pre-service and in-service educators. Participants will: • learn to effectively use primary sources from the Library of Congress digital collections, • improve content knowledge about the long struggle for civil rights in America, • improve confidence teaching about difficult historical topics, Keynote Speaker: Charles M.
