Pitch for Public Health: ASPH Alumni Night at Segra Park
In celebration of Public Health Week, ASPH alumni and their families are invited to attend a Columbia Fireflies baseball game. Naegleria Fowleri Antibody Testing
Participate in a Research Study: Help advance knowledge about “the brain eating amoeba” in South Carolina,
What is the goal of this study,
•Recent studies suggest that exposure to N. fowleri may be more common than once thought. These studies also suggest that some people who are exposed may develop mild or moderate symptoms, instead of severe infections.
•Because of these new studies, our study team is investigating how many people have been exposed to this amoeba in South Carolina (and other states), and how their exposures may have occurred.
Who is eligible to participate,
All individuals >who live in or are visiting South Carolina may participate in the study,
How can I participate?
1) Provide a small finger-stick blood sample
, 2) Take a 10-minute survey.
, 3) Return for a follow-up testing event in September!
