Middle School Makers: Beaded Tapestries

Middle School Makers is a free after-school art program at the Wellin Museum of Art for students in 6th – 8th grades. During this session, students will learn to make images using pixelation to be transformed into a beaded tapestry inspired by King David of Harlem by Felandus Thames. Wellin Kids | Fan-Tastic Designs

Drop in to explore art and make a creative project as a family! Wellin Kids programs draw inspiration from original works of art and provide an opportunity to experiment. This week, we will adorn folding fans inspired by the fans in Jamea Richmond-Edwards's artwork Follow Me, on view in the exhibition Jamea Richmond-Edwards: Another World and Yet the Same. Get set for summer with your own personalized paper fan. The first hour (9:30 - 10:30 a.m.) is recommended for children in Kindergarten through 2nd grade and the second hour (11:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.) is recommended for children in 3rd through 5th grade. Admission is free. This interactive program is intended for children with their parents/caregivers. Children must be accompanied by an adult at all times. Visitors must sign in and leave the museum between sessions to allow us to reset the program. Due to limited space, children may only attend one session per date.
