Sign Language Organization

The Sign Language Organization provides practice in American Sign Language and spreads awareness of deaf culture to the State College and University Park community. SLO provides its members with practice in the art of sign language and instruction on deaf culture during its informal meetings for anyone who is interested. All majors and ASL experience are welcome! Penn State chapter of the National Student Speech-Language-Hearing Association that provides professional development and service opportunities for students pursuing careers in speech-language pathology and audiology. Join members of the Deaf community and professionals in Deaf education, interpreting, and ASL-related careers as they share their experiences and insights. General body meeting of the Alzheimer's Awareness student club

The goal of the Alzheimer's Awareness Club is to raise awareness and promote understanding of Alzheimer's and dementia within the community. Through fundraisers, donation drives, volunteer work, and outreach initiatives this organization will help families who have been impacted by this disease. CSD Connections: Bridging Science and Service

The Penn State Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders is offering an online event as a part of our series CSD Connections: Bridging Science and Service. The last several years have seen significant change in both stuttering therapy and the understanding of what it means to be a person who stutters. After decades of treatments that often felt successful to SLPs but sometimes caused more harm than good for clients, this shift has largely been positive. "Rethinking Stuttering: Navigating the Nuanced Landscape of Change" will cover these evolving perspectives, examine potential missteps within these modern frameworks, and provide actionable ways to update your clinical practice. This program is intended for speech language pathologists who work with school-age children, adolescents, and adults who stutter.  Advanced registration is required. ASHA CEUs available: 0.1.
