Teaching and Learning in the Age of AI

The development of AI tools and their use in education raises important questions: what skills should educators teach students? How should they design assignments, evaluate learning, and uphold their educational responsibilities? This session will encourage faculty to reflect on different types of cognitive skills that they want students to learn, including higher-order deliberation and creativity (among others). The session will help faculty learn practical strategies for deciding when AI use supports this kind of learning and when it undermines it, so that faculty can design assignments and assessments that respond ethically and effectively to the realities of today’s classroom. This session is recommended for all teachers. The workshop will be facilitated by Julinna Oxley, Director of the Jackson Center for Ethics and Values at CCU, and Robin Zebrowski, Professor of Philosophy and Cognitive Science (Beloit). Building Resiliency Session 1

This four-week series was developed to help people recognize or advance their resiliency. Participants will have the opportunity to explore who they are, how they relate to the world, and how they typically deal with the curveballs life throws their way. Participants will have the opportunity to develop and enhance skills to help manage these stressors. We hope that by the end of this series, participants will have more confidence in their ability to bounce back, fail forward, and weather the storms of life. Each session will build on content from the previous sessions, and participants will have the opportunity to practice skills they've learned between sessions.    Session 1: Self-concept.
