“Construal Level Change During a Day: How Time of Day Influences Individuals’ Construal, Levels” Despite considerable research on the time-of-day effect in various academic disciplines, few studies have examined its influence on consumer behavior. We argue that an individual’s construal level may change over the course of a day as their mental fatigue gradually increases. To support our argument, we examined individuals’ construal levels multiple times at specific points in a day. Specifically, we conducted three experimental studies in the United States and South Korea and analyzed Google search data collected from Denmark and Greece. The findings showed that individuals exhibited a lower construal level later in the day by examining their behavioral identification form (BIF) measures, online textual searches, and words used in writing. Furthermore, we found evidence that this diurnal change in construal level…

“Inequality and Finance: The role of Eco
Georgios Koimisis, Manhattan University, Research on the finance-inequality nexus highlights the role of financial development in, explaining income disparities across countries. This paper employs economic literacy as a metric to assess the capacity to capitalize on financial investment opportunities, demonstrating its importance in understanding the relationship between income inequality and financial development. Our methodology involves OLS-FE, SGMM and QML-FE estimations in a sample of forty-eight countries over the 1995-2008 period. Our findings establish a clear positive link between financial development and income inequality; however, this relationship is significantly mitigated by the level of economic, literacy, highlighting its crucial moderating role. Our results are robust across all different, methodologies, for different metrics of income inequality and for different metrics of financial development.

“Less for More: How, Why, and When Not?”
Jaewoo Joo, a visiting scholar at Stanford University, www.designmarketinglab.com,
Although a simple design is important for the success of many businesses, prior research, has not answered the following three critical questions: How can businesses achieve a simple design? Why is it good to achieve a simple design? When is a simple design not beneficial? This research conducts three experimental studies to answer these questions. The findings show three results. First, three (irregularity of arrangement, amount of material, and incongruity) out of the six types of lowering visual complexity enhance preference. Second, decreasing the amount of material is the only, way to enhance authenticity, which in turn increases preference. Third, eliminating diagnostic form features to decrease the amount of material fails to increase consumer’s preference for the design: their preference increases only when nondiagnostic form features are eliminated. This study’s results, contribute to helping consumers understand why…

Mass of the Ascension
The Feast of the Ascension commemorates Jesus' ascension into heaven 40 days after his resurrection. We will celebrate Mass in the Chapel of De LaSalle and His Brothers. The feast is considered a Holy Day of Obligation in the Archdiocese of New York.
The Ascension is an important Christian feast because it is the final component of the paschal mystery, which consists also of Jesus' Passion, Crucifixion, Death, Burial, Descent Among the Dead, and Resurrection. Along with the Resurrection, the Ascension functioned as a proof of Jesus' claim that he was the Messiah. The Ascension is also the event whereby humanity was taken into heaven. Finally, the Ascension was also the "final blow" so-to-speak against Satan's power, and thus the lion (Jesus) conquering the dragon (Satan) is a symbol of the Ascension.
Thursday, May 29, 2025, 12:15 PM – 1:15 PM.
Chapel of De La Salle and His Brothers.
