Revisiting the Iraq War
Debates about why the United States decided to invade Iraq in 2003 and topple Saddam Hussein’s regime have focused on faulty intelligence regarding the presence of weapons of mass destruction in the country. In this panel, Drs. Groarke (political science) and Crafts (history) will contextualize the intervention by highlighting historical events leading up to war, and why groups including neoconservatives, the Christian Right, and nationalists had become increasingly supportive of an aggressive U.S. foreign policy by the eve of invasion. We will also discuss a global movement to protest the war, and how the history of the Iraq War continues to influence policies in the war in the Ukraine.

“A Social Structural Theory of Organizational Responsiveness to Social Issues: CrossFit in the Crosshairs”
How do firms respond to organizational wrongdoing that threatens to tarnish their image in the, eyes of stakeholders? Firms often find themselves having to balance demands from their various stakeholders, and take action on issues raised by them. Accordingly, a key question in the organizational literature has, been what drives firms to respond to certain issues but not others.
