Careers in Patents for Engineers and Scientists

Office of Career Pathways Presents: Careers in Patents for Engineers and Scientists, Students with a degree in engineering, computer sciences, or the hard sciences can take the US Patent Office's registration exam to become a patent agent. The exam is available virtually on-demand. Patent Agents can make up to $20,000 a year more than similarly situated engineers and scientists. Becoming a patent agent can also be a step toward becoming a patent attorney. Join us for a presentation by Mark Dighton, PLI's Director of Patent Office Courses, who will help you explore this career pathway. Topics will include careers for patent agents, the degrees, qualities and skills employers look for, and the latest info on the Patent Office's registration exam.
