There are many ways to show an employer you have the relevant skills and qualities needed for an internship or job, even if you have not had a job before. In this workshop we will help you inventory and express the relevant experiences you already have from other activities in your life including volunteering, athletics, and more. We will also discuss how to add relevant experience to your resume by using platforms you have access to by being an MU student like Forage (career exploration and job simulations) and IBM SkillsBuild. Careers in Patents for Engineers and Scientists
Office of Career Pathways Presents: Careers in Patents for Engineers and Scientists,
Students with a degree in engineering, computer sciences, or the hard sciences can take the US Patent Office's registration exam to become a patent agent. The exam is available virtually on-demand. Patent Agents can make up to $20,000 a year more than similarly situated engineers and scientists. Becoming a patent agent can also be a step toward becoming a patent attorney.
Join us for a presentation by Mark Dighton, PLI's Director of Patent Office Courses, who will help you explore this career pathway. Topics will include careers for patent agents, the degrees, qualities and skills employers look for, and the latest info on the Patent Office's registration exam.
After Participating in this program, you'll be prepared to:
