SANDPLAY
Providence College Galleries is pleased to present SANDPLAY, an ongoing collaboration between Mirthe Berentsen and Martín La Roche Contreras. The exhibition's central work is an installation featuring a sandbox and a display of handheld-sized objects ranging from toys, figurines, and mementos to seeds and leaves in the natural environment. SANDPLAY draws inspiration from the Jungian sand play therapy developed by psychoanalyst Dora Kalff in the 1950s. Visitors can select and place objects in a sandbox to create narratives. The process is open-ended, allowing for new and different stories to emerge daily.
