Nature Sketching

Location: Palmer Museum of Art Mimi Barash Coppersmith Studio Classroom,   Sketch your art out during this free drop-in class for adults! Explore a variety of art materials and techniques as we connect art and nature. Each class wraps up with an informal “salon,” during which participants share their artwork and what inspired them. Shinrin-yoku, Forest Bathing

Location: Hartley Wood, Registration: Register here for Forest Bathing. Experience a research-based approach to enhance your health and wellness with a guided, slow, sensory walk. Inspired by the Japanese practice of "taking in the forest" ANFT certified guide Anna Marie Nachman will lead sessions on Tuesdays starting March 18 through April 29. Walks are led in Hartley Wood, the Arboretum at Penn State. Session 1: 4:00-5:15 p.m. Session 2: 5:30-6:45 p.m. Advanced registration is required and limited to 15 people. Yoga and Meditation

Location: Palmer Museum of Art, Front Desk Check-In, Join Latisha Franklin (RYT 200) for yoga and meditation classes. Feel free to bring your own mat. DIY Sun Catcher

Location: HUB Student Engagement Space, This activity will allow students to celebrate Spring and welcome the longer sunny days ahead! Vibe Out/Mindful Making

Location: 107 HUB-Robeson Center, Starting March 20 through May 1, you can find us in room 107 HUB crafting and listening to some good tunes. Events will include Coloring and Conversation, Sneaker Decorating, College Vision Board Making, and Bracelet Making. Sessions are from 5:00 to 6:30 p.m. This is a drop-in activity with limited supplies.   March 20 - Coloring & Conversation, Engage in good discussions with your peers while channeling creativity in full color. Let yourself enjoy the meditative process of coloring without judgement or rules. All coloring supplies will be provided. March 27 - Bracelet Making, Whether you're tying string to create a colorful threaded bracelet or making a beaded bracelet with encouraging words, this session has multiple ways for you to get inspired. Brief instructions can be given, but most of the creativity comes from you! Make one for yourself or someone else. Creative Studio: Poetry & Paint

Location: Palmer Museum of Art, Event Space  Get creative, connect with others, move your hands, and take time to relax and rejuvenate through art-making processes. Hosted by museum educators, interns, or guest artists, these sessions will focus on the practice of creativity, exploring artistic mediums, and making personal connections rather than on final products. Community Nature Journaling

Location: Shaver's Creek Environmental Center, Registration: Click here to register! Registration is required.  This session will introduce participants to diverse nature journaling techniques. It will culminate with sharing our learnings and reflecting together. All ages, families, and individuals are welcome. We encourage parents to bring children who express genuine interest in nature drawing and to monitor their behavior. Youth participants must be accompanied by an adult participant.
