Graduate Vocal Ensemble Performance

Freeman Sundays @3 Concert Series

The USC School of Music’s renowned music faculty performs fresh and vibrant chamber music programs that pair canonical masterpieces with new works. Spend an intimate afternoon with our talented faculty! February’s program features a massive lineup of USC faculty and guest musicians, performing a wide range of musical styles. Lauren Meccia, alto saxophone; Nick Vlandis, piano; Sutton Jenkins, guitar; Wilson Stokes, bass; and Allwyn Edwards, drums, kick off the afternoon with 20 minutes of jazz. Selections include An Old Tale by USC’s Bert Ligon and Prisionero y Princesa by alumnus Christian Moreno Cova, along with a couple of other surprises! The second part of the program includes soprano Serena Hill-LaRoche, accompanied by Jennifer Parker-Harley on flute and Lynn Kompass on piano; and mezzo-soprano Janet Hopkins, accompanied by Armen Shaomian on piano. USC Symphony Orchestra: Tchaikovsky & Lutoslawski

USC Symphony Orchestra, with conductor and music director Scott Weiss and guest artist Ari Streisfeld (violin faculty), presents “Tchaikovsky & Lutoslawski,” featuring  Witold Lutoslawski’s Partita for violin and orchestra. Conductor Scott Weiss will lead a pre-concert talk at 6:45 p.m. Koger Center for the Arts Grand Tier. Symphonic Winds, led by Dr. Jay Jacobs, presents “Intersection and Juxtaposition. The concert features guest conductor Brenna Curtis and includes works by Barber, Grantham and Bryant. Wind Ensemble: Celebration

Cormac Cannon, conductor, Director of Bands Cormac Cannon returns to the podium to lead the Wind Ensemble in their performance at the 48th annual USC Band Clinic. Various international influences come together in a program that will surely be remembered for years to come. Dennis Llinás’ La Chancla is a joyful and thrilling Cuban-inspired work, while Gao Hong’s Celebration brings traditional Chinese pipa music to the wind ensemble. The grand finale, David Maslanka’s epic masterwork Symphony No. 4, will inspire audiences with its dramatic, emotional journey, ending in a setting of the hymn tune “Old Hundred” for organ and wind ensemble. Koger Jazz Heritage Festival: USC Jazz Alumni Concert

USC Jazz and Koger Center for the Arts present the inaugural Koger Jazz Heritage Festival, featuring three days of jazz concerts. The festival kicks off with a celebration of the USC Jazz Studies department on Saturday, February 21, 2026, at 7:30 in the Koger Black Box Theater. The first concert of the festival will feature USC Jazz Alumni, led by the Amos Hoffman Trio. Tickets are available online and in person at the Koger Center Box Office. Koger Jazz Heritage Festival: Vincent Gardner with USC Jazz Faculty

The second concert of the inaugural Koger Jazz Heritage Festival moves to the Darla Moore School of Business Johnson Performance Hall. Trombonist Vincent Gardner, joined by our illustrious USC Jazz Faculty, performs an exciting program of big band jazz at 3 p.m.  A member of the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra, Vincent Gardner has contributed many arrangements to the orchestra. In 2009, he was commissioned by Jazz at Lincoln Center to compose “The Jesse B. Semple Suite,” a 60-minute piece inspired by the short stories of Langston Hughes. Vincent is featured as trombonist on a number of notable recordings and has recorded five CDs as a bandleader for Steeplechase Records. He has performed with The Duke Ellington Orchestra, Bobby McFerrin, Harry Connick, Jr. The Saturday Night Live Band, Chaka Khan, A Tribe Called Quest, and many others. Koger Jazz Heritage Festival, presented by Koger Center for the Arts and the USC School of Music, brings to the stage GRAMMY® Award-winning trumpeter Jon Faddis for its featured Sunday performance! Partnering with Jazz at Lincoln Center, USC Jazz hosts the Southeast’s Essentially Ellington Regional at Koger Center for the Arts on Monday, February 23. Ten high school jazz ensembles from South Carolina, North Carolina and Georgia are participating. In celebration of this day of learning and of the conclusion of the inaugural Koger Jazz Heritage Festival, esteemed trumpeter Jon Faddis and Friends take the stage for an exciting finale! Wind Ensemble: O Earth O Stars

Cormac Cannon, conductor, David Warren, guest conductor, Jennifer Parker-Harley, flute, Claire Bryant, cello, The Wind Ensemble celebrates the first week of spring with a program inspired by the Earth and the stars. D’un Matin De Printemps (“Of a Spring Morning”) was composed by Lili Boulanger, sister of the acclaimed composition teacher Nadia Boulanger. USC School of Music faculty Jennifer Parker-Harley and Claire Bryant are featured on David Maslanka’s reflective and stunningly beautiful O Earth O Stars, while Danyhew’s Magnolia Star elicits images of a mid-twentieth-century ride on a train of the same name. The concert concludes with a brand-new work by University of Michigan composition professor Erik Santos inspired the concept of “Pangea Proxima,” a future supercontinent configuration of Earth’s land masses.
