USC Symphony Orchestra and Choirs of Carolina: Beethoven’s Ninth
Join the USC Symphony Orchestra, the USC Concert Choir and University Chorus for a night of Beethoven! Soloists include Tina Milhorn Stallard, soprano; Rachel Calloway, mezzo-soprano; Dominic Armstrong, tenor; and Jacob Will, bass-baritone. The evening begins with Aureole by Augusta Read Thomas, followed by Ludwig van Beethoven’s Symphony No. 9. This groundbreaking symphony was Beethoven’s final complete symphony and the first symphony by any composer to incorporate vocal soloists and chorus into what, until then, had been a purely instrumental genre.
