Celebration of Scholarship Three Minute Thesis Competition

Graduate students present their thesis or dissertation research in 180 seconds using one one static presentation slide.  This rapid style presentation format is intended for a broad audience without any particular background knowledge.  The 3MT competition was first held at the University of Queensland in 2008 and has since become a popular event at Universities around the world.  The winner will be invited to advance to the national level of the 3MT competition. What is Cinco de Mayo Anyways?

Cinco de Mayo is an often misunderstand holiday. It is associated with Mexican heritage but is not really celebrated much in Mexico. It has become a highly commercialized day with many people seeing it as just a marketing campaign by Mexican beer and spirits companies. But what is it really? Why is it celebrated more in the United States and not so much in Mexico? This presentation will provide the history of the holiday and offer an opportunity for discussions around experiences and perspectives on the holiday by participants. Run the Runway at Lewis University Airport
