Hercules’ New Labors Art Exhibition

Hercules’ New Labors and Other Domestic Affairs, New Works by Steven Pearson,  Gallery in the Scott Center, Opening Reception: Thursday, 9/11/2025 from 5-7 PM, Exhibit runs:   9/11-12/6, Steven Pearson is the Joan Develin Coley Endowed Chair in Creative Expression and the Arts at McDaniel College, where he has been a professor since 2004. Originally from Johnstown, NY, Steven served honorably in the Navy and then went on to receive his AA in Fine Art from Fulton-Montgomery Community College, his B.S. in Studio Art from The College of Saint Rose, and his M.F.A. in Painting from the Maryland Institute College of Art. This powerful new body of work represents the creative efforts of a recent sabbatical and a focused return to Pearson’s earlier roots in narrative figuration following almost two decades of exploring abstraction and non-objective painting. Tartuffe, By Molière, adapted by Constance Congdon from a literal prose translation by Virginia, Directed by Emily Hall,    Constance Congdon’s witty verse adaptation of Moliere’s timeless classic, in which a religious conman infiltrates the household of a gullible man and his exasperated family.  When the religious hypocrite Tartuffe is taken into their home and promised Orgon’s daughter’s hand in marriage (even as he secretly attempts to seduce Orgon’s wife, Elmire.) Everyone else in the family sees through Tartuffe’s hypocrisies. Will his real intentions be exposed? Will the family be saved from eviction? Will Orgon be thrown into prison? Kindness Day at Carroll
