The McDaniel College Choir in Concert

The McDaniel College Choir will present its spring concert on Sunday, April 21 at 7:00 p.m. in (Big) Baker Memorial Chapel.  The choir is under the direction of Kyle Engler, with Peggy Brengle serving as accompanist.  The program will include music from diverse locales and historical eras.  The College’s A Cappella singers will also be featured on several selections. Student African Drum Ensembles

The McDaniel College Department of Music will present a performance by its Student African Drum Ensembles on Thursday, April 25 at 7:00 p.m.  The concert will take place in the Roj Student Center's Naganna Forum. The Student African Drum Ensembles are under the direction of McDaniel music department faculty Pape Demba "Paco" Samb, a “Senegalese Griot,” or West African historian, storyteller, singer, poet, dancer, and/or musician.  Samb grew up in Senegal, learning to play the drums, and came to the U.S. in 2013.  Samb originally came to the U.S. to perform with his band and, once he arrived here, he decided to stay. McDaniel College Theatre presents Steve Martin’s farce “The Underpants” April 18–20 at 7:30 p.m. in WMC Alumni Hall.  The play, adapted from Carl Sternheim, contains adult humor and is intended for mature audiences. Steve Martin, the renowned comic actor and author of “Picasso at the Lapine Agile,” provides a wild satire adapted from the classic German play about Louise and Theo Markes, a couple whose conservative existence is shattered when Louise's bloomers fall down in public.  Though she pulls them up quickly, he thinks the incident will cost him his job as a government clerk.  Louise's momentary display does not result in the feared scandal but it does attract two infatuated men, each of whom wants to rent the spare room in the Markes' home.  Oblivious of their amorous objectives, Theo splits the room between them, happy to collect rent from both the foppish poet and the whiny hypochondriac. Singing on Stage

The McDaniel College Department of Music will present a performance by its “Singing on Stage” class on Sunday, April 28 at 7:00 p.m. The presentation takes place in the WMC Alumni Hall Dorothy Elderdice Studio Theatre. Under the direction of Kyle Engler, students in the class will perform several selections from renowned operas and popular Broadway musicals.  Peggy Brengle serves as accompanist. A Cappella Ensemble

The McDaniel College Department of Music will present a performance by its TerrorTones A Cappella Ensemble on Monday, April 29 at 7:30 p.m. in (Little) Baker Chapel.  The group of unaccompanied singers, the premier vocal ensemble at McDaniel College, is under the guidance of Kyle Engler, with Peggy Brengle serving as collaborator. The A Cappella singers are selected from the membership of the McDaniel College Choir.  They perform exclusively unaccompanied vocal music, including a wide variety of world music and vocal jazz. Jazz Night
