Chamber Music on the Hill presents ‘American Soundscapes: Music of the Americas’ A Celebration of America at 250!
The Embassy String Quartet, whose mission employs "music as cultural diplomacy," is comprised of Russian violinists Nikita Borisevich and Veronika Sveshnikova, American violist Renate Falkner, and South African cellist Jacques-Pierre Malan. The program will include works by Samuel Barber, Florence Price, and Duke Ellington, as well as Dvorak's beloved "American” String Quartet and works from Latin America.

Chamber Music on the Hill presents “GERDAN” Kaleidoscope of World Music
The musicians of Gerdan share their Eastern European multicultural music experience in their worldwide performances, workshops and master classes. Their authentic folk music and original arrangements of classical compositions range from intimate meditations to energetic dances. Gerdan’s traditional instruments include world flutes: the Slovak Fujara, the Caval from Bukovina and Romania, Ukrainian Sopilka, and Turkish Ney. Exotic drums of different sizes and timbre including the Doumbak, Tabla, Rig, Frame Drum and the Carpathian Buben provide a driving rhythmic accompaniment. The resonant violin leads with melodic certainty and provides creative counterpoint. The accordion’s lively chords and delightful tones add a syncopated texture.
