Kleppe Visiting Artist Lecture Series: Hannah Lindo
Visual and Performing Arts
The Kleppe Visiting Artist Lecture Series takes place at 4 p.m. on Mondays in Wood 100. Admission is free and open to the public, and a virtual option is available. Free Zoom registration is required to attend virtually.
Hannah Lindo is a painter, educator, and native Kansan who has been Artist in Residence in the Division of Art & Design at UCM. Lindo’s work is inspired by the interconnected themes of growth and destruction found in nature. She uses memories of the Kansas landscape to create paintings that reflect inner emotions, which could be described as internal landscapes. Her work is not limited to a single moment or emotion; rather, it captures multiple times, memories, and feelings as they transition into one another. Anxiety and beauty coexist, illustrating that within the fear of the unknown, there can also be moments of beauty.

Run Time Approx. 2 hours,
Brought together by a roadside diner, a bus and a blizzard, this tale of human connection is both a heartwarming and hilarious exploration of loneliness, love and the longing to be understood, even in the most unlikely of places.

Hannah Lindo is currently Artist in Residence for the Division of Art & Design. Lindo’s artwork is inspired by the interconnected themes of growth and destruction found in nature. A native Kansan, she uses memories of the Kansas landscape. She is particularly interested in the concept of accumulation and the sense of time it represents. Registered Art Therapists hold master's degrees in art therapy, have an extensive knowledge base of psychology, and work for thousands of hours in clinical settings before gaining the title of ‘registered’ art therapist.

Visual and Performing Arts
The Kleppe Visiting Artist Lecture Series takes place at 4 p.m. on Mondays in Wood 100. Admission is free and open to the public, and a virtual option is available. Free Zoom registration is required to attend virtually.
Wolfe Bracke is a self-taught artist born and raised in Kansas City, MO whose work primarily deals with the minute, the unnoticed, and the humorous aspects that are often overlooked in our daily lives. I draw inspiration from natural forms, incorporating live organisms ranging from tiny plants to the human body, into my work. About his work, Bracke says, “a lot of what I do is small scale, much of it starting at 2-3mm. I feel that small works (or larger works made up of tiny components) exude an intimate, inviting, and playful air that can entice the viewer to come closer, focus, and engage with the piece. It’s almost a form of seduction.” Bracke is the Artistic Director of the InterUrban ArtHouse in Overland Park, Kansas.
