Every September, AMB partners with the Hunger and Health Coalition to host and campus and community wide canned food drive.
The HHC is a local nonprofit organization that fights hunger in our community. They have a food pantry, provide fresh fruits and vegetables, and even offer free medical care.
We want to be a part of their impact and do our part for our community!
Last year, we raised 702lbs of food and over $1400 for the HHC. This year we hope to bring in even more!

Rethink Poverty: A Simulation Experience
Join the Beaver College of Health Sciences as we host a simulation to experience poverty.
At this event, the students will take on the identity and work together with their family to live a month in poverty. The Simulated "community" is a large room in the student union. Women in Educational Leadership Symposium (WIELS)
The 2026 Women in Educational Leadership Symposium will return to the App State Boone Campus on October 1-3, 2026. The 2026 WIELS theme, The Power of We: Women Shaping a Lasting Legacy in Education, celebrates connection, mentorship, and collective leadership as women unite to advance equity, grow together, and strengthen their impact.
WIELS is a partnership between faculty members in the Leadership and Educational Studies at Appalachian State University and practicing educators. Our mandate is the development of an 'armoring process' that will equip women with pragmatic knowledge, skills, and dispositions that prepare them for success as educational leaders.

Flu Clinic
Flu Clinics are an annual collaboration between Wellness and Prevention Services and Student Health Services. They take place on different days and at different locations to catch and hopefully vaccinate as many students as possible against the influenza virus. Nursing staff and students get an opportunity to practice and accumulate working hours, while WPS gets to help promote and provide on the ground support for public health efforts.
