Queer 'Neers "I AM QUEER AND..." Event

PSU 420 My student organization, Queer 'Neers, will be hosting an in-resident Mandela Washington Fellow, Brian Sibeko-Ngidi (South Africa). It's a speaker event titled "I AM QUEER AND..." For many people who identify as queer, we often have more than one identity, and sometimes, we struggle to be both. In certain and different spaces, we often feel like we can only be one or the other: queer or Black/Latine/Asian/Indigenous, queer or a person of faith (Christian, Muslim, or Jewish), queer or disabled/neurodivergent, queer or an athlete, even queer or a professor. Additionally, even within the LGBTQIA+ community, there are tensions around holding multiple queer identities. For example, bisexual people are often told they are “not queer enough,” or trans people having to "prove their transness."  How can Queer people embrace all versions of themselves? This event is centered around helping queer people and allies recognize their strength: their identity. Everyone is welcome.
