Urinetown: Theatre Production

Performing Arts Events In the not-so-distant future, a terrible water shortage and 20-year drought has led to a government ban on private toilets and a proliferation of paid public toilets, owned and operated by a single megalomaniac company: the Urine Good Company. If the poor don’t obey the strict laws prohibiting free urination, they’ll be sent to the dreaded and mysterious “Urinetown.” After too long under the heel of the malevolent Caldwell B. Cladwell, the poor stage a revolt, led by a brave young hero, fighting tooth and nail for the freedom to pee “wherever you like, whenever you like, for as long as you like, and with whomever you like.” A brilliant satire modeled off the plays of Kurt Weill and Bertolt Brecht, Urinetown is a wickedly funny, fast-paced, and surprisingly intelligent comedic romp. GET TICKETS,  . Link (website or registration): https://catawba.edu/theatretix. Saturday, November 15, 2025, 7:30 PM – 10:00 PM. Robertson College-Community Center 103, Hedrick Little Theatre.

Performing Arts Events This concert is a journey into the heart of shared experience through emotion, culture, history, and imagination. We begin with Valence, a new work from North Carolinian composer, Kevin Clary. This opening selection is bold, and full of potential. From there, Eric Whitacre’s October creates quiet introspection, drawing attention to the beauty of change and the subtle shifts of the natural world around us. Lepe brings a jolt of life and joy, reminding us how music can reflect identity and celebrate the communities we call home. In From the Delta, we travel into deeper emotional waters, confronting resilience, and joy rooted in the African American experience. With Serenity, we turn inward. This piece is not only peaceful, it also provides a musical space for the audience to reflect. Finally, Gandalf from Johan de Meij’s first symphony The Lord of the Rings takes us into myth and legend, where the search for meaning and belonging finds heroic proportions. In the wisdom and mystery of this figure, we may see… Monday, November 24, 2025, 7:00 PM – 9:00 PM. Robertson College-Community Center 105, Keppel Auditorium.
