Masquerade: Salisbury Symphony Concert
This program explores theatricality, character, and the blurred line between performer and performance.
Marche pour la Cérémonie des Turcs opens with ceremonial flair, followed by the Trombone Concerto by Grøndahl, featuring Evelyn Carlson, Principal Trombone of the Kansas City Symphony. The concerto shows off the full range of the instrument, from a warm, lyrical sound to quick, precise passages that highlight both control and clarity. The Suite from Petrushka (1947 version) closes the concert with its vivid carnival world, where puppets come to life and spectacle takes over. Audience members are invited to join the atmosphere with a masquerade, bringing the spirit of the program off the stage and into the hall.

Catawba Sings Dolly Parton: 9 to 5 on 9/25
The Catawba Singers and Friends will offer a musical tribute to Dolly Parton on Friday, September 25th at 12 noon in Peeler Crystal Lounge of the Robertson College-Community Center on campus.
This will be a musical program of choral arrangements and solos honoring Dolly Parton's legacy in music.

Catawba Singers: An American Tapestry
The Shuford School of Performing Arts at Catawba College will present the Catawba Singers in their first concert of the 2026-27 academic year at 4 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 4.
The theme of the concert will be “An American Tapestry,” featuring songs, stories, and voices woven into the American experience.
Selections will include traditional choral works by Randall Thompson and Aaron Copland, along with a special tribute to Dolly Parton.
The 75-minute performance will be held at St. John’s Lutheran Church, 200 W. Innes St. in Salisbury.
The concert will feature the Catawba Singers, soloists, and instrumentalists. St. John’s Chancel Choir will also join the singers to conclude the afternoon’s program.
The 68 voices of the Catawba Singers are under the direction of Dr. Phillip E. Burgess, dean of the Shuford School of Performing Arts at Catawba College. Susan Trivette, Catawba’s collaborative pianist, will accompany the ensemble.
The concert is free and open to the public.

Catawba Spotlight Live!
Experience an evening of live music, comedy, conversation, storytelling, and entertainment with Catawba Spotlight Live! a live variety show performed before an audience and recorded for radio.
Inspired by the tradition of classic live radio variety programs, Catawba Spotlight Live! brings together performers, musicians, students, faculty, and special guests for a fast-moving evening built around the energy of live performance. This show will feature a mix of musical performances, comedy, interviews, storytelling, and other surprises, all happening onstage in front of a live audience.
The audience is part of the experience. Applause, laughter, reactions, and the occasional unexpected moment all become part of the program as it is captured for later radio broadcast.
