Spring 2026 Residency Determination Deadline

Academic Calendar In compliance with state law, the University of North Carolina System requires students to request a residency classification from the Residency Determination Service (RDS). To be classified as an in-state student, you must submit an RDS application on the Residency Determination Service (RDS) website. You will be classified as an out-of-state until your application has been approved by RDS. The deadline to submit an application along with all supporting documentation for an initial residency determination or reclassification is 45 calendar days from the start of the term for which the student is seeking a residency determination or reclassification.  All conditions necessary for achieving in-state status must be satisfied prior to this deadline.  Actions completed after the deadline will not be applicable to the in-progress term. Summer I & II 2026 Immunization Compliance Deadline

Academic Calendar The North Carolina state law requires that no person shall attend a college or university in North Carolina unless a certificate of immunization indicating that the person has received the immunizations required by law is presented to the college or university on or before the first day of registration. If the certificate of immunization has not been submitted to Winston-Salem State University by the date of the student’s initial registration, the University shall present a notice of deficiency to the student. The student shall have thirty (30) calendar days from the first day of class to obtain the required immunizations. In accordance with the 301.6 - Immunization policy, those persons who have not complied with the immunization requirements by the end of thirty (30) calendar days will be administratively withdrawn from the University unless a valid exemption exists. Fall 2026 Change of Registration/Administrative Withdrawal Period

Academic Calendar Changes in Registration (Course Adjustment Period or Drop/Add), In accordance with the 301.7 – Registration policy, students may add and drop courses from their schedule until the end of the Change of Registration period each semester, which is the first ten (10) class days of a fall or spring term.
