2026 WSSU Homecoming Parade
Winston-Salem State University (WSSU) invites you to participate in the 2026 WSSU Homecoming Parade, scheduled for Sunday, November 1, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. The Homecoming Parade invites the WSSU community, alumni, families, and friends to come together in celebration of Homecoming. Following the parade, guests are invited to join us for the inaugural Lighting of the Homecoming Sign Ceremony, a special tradition honoring the enduring pride, legacy, and spirit of WSSU.
The WSSU Homecoming Parade is one of the University's most anticipated annual traditions, providing a unique opportunity for organizations, businesses, schools, civic groups, and community partners to showcase their pride while engaging with thousands of spectators from across the region. The official Homecoming spirit rally featuring the iconic lighting of the WSSU sign. Includes student performances, hype entertainment, remarks from university leadership, and a high-energy send-off into Homecoming Week. This event will be held at Bowman Gray Stadium and is free to attend.

WSSU Alumni Class of 1976 and 2001 Reunion Check-In
The Class of 1976 and Class 2001 will be celebrating 50 and 25 years respectively and we will honor them with a reception to celebrate this milestone. We will provide light bites and distribute caps and gowns for both classes. This will be at the Center for Design and Innovation (450 Design Avenue, Winston-Salem, NC 27101).

The Royal Coronation — When I Think of Home
The official crowning ceremony for WSSU's Homecoming Royalty Court. A formal, elegant evening celebrating the King, Queen, and full court. Themed 'When I Think of Home.' Wreath Laying and Founder's Day Convocation

Winston-Salem State University proudly celebrates Founder’s Day with our distinguished convocation honoring the enduring legacy of our founder, Dr. Simon Green Atkins—a legend from the past, yet truly a man for all times. His vision, values, and philosophy continue to permeate the University’s work today and inspire its aspirations for the future.
During this special observance, we honor Dr. Atkins’s legacy by recognizing the accomplishments of our distinguished alumni through the Alumni Achievement Awards and celebrating the 50th and 25th Alumni Classes. We will also reverence his memory through a commemorative wreath ceremony and a Litany of Remembrance, presented with members of the Founder’s family.
This meaningful gathering serves as both a tribute to where WSSU began and a celebration of the enduring spirit that continues to guide where we are going.

An elevated black-tie-preferred Homecoming celebration honoring the excellence, legacy, and tradition of Winston-Salem State University for a good cause that pours back into the school.
