A Space for Wurzweiler students to Grieve Together- Counseling Center Support
As a community, we continue to grieve the loss of William Shakin, a classmate and friend to many of you. To provide a space for support and connection during this difficult time, the Counseling Center will be offering a support/process group for members of his cohort and any other student impacted by his death.
Grief can bring many different emotions and reactions. It can be helpful to come together to share feelings and reflections and to receive support from others who are grieving this loss. There is no expectation that you speak, you are welcome simply to be present. ,
The group will be facilitated exclusively by Counseling Center staff and will take place virtually on Thursday, September 3, at 1 pm. .

Understanding Autism: Best Practice Interventions to Support the Autistic Community
Description: The rates of Autism are currently rising. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention estimates that about 1 in 31 (3.2%) children aged 8 years nationally has been identified with Autism Spectrum Disorder. There has much misinformation about Autism among clinicians, policymakers, and lay people. This educational and technique-based presentation will seek to help clinicians understand the autistic experience. Dr. Jeffrey Kranzler will provide accurate information about neurodiversity, diagnosis parameters, and current best practices.
This session is the first of two programs to promote a greater understanding of neurodiversity. The second program, focusing on Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), will be presented on October 30, 2026.
