Speaker bio: Eugene D. Matanky is a Golda Meir Postdoctoral Fellow at The Hebrew University of Jerusalem and Harry Starr Postdoctoral Fellow at Harvard University. His doctorate, entitled Esoteric Labor: The Making of Cordoverean Kabbalah explored Moses Cordovero's (1522–1570) kabbalistic writings as part of the history of knowledge, employing material philological and bibliographical approaches to uncover the various hidden figures, processes, and labors that created the intellectual construct of Cordoverean Kabbalah. His current project turns to the dissemination and migration of kabbalistic knowledge from the Spanish Expulsion until the Hebrew printing presses of early modern Italy.

This program will explore clinical practice with Gambling Disorder, often known as the “Hidden Addiction.” Rachel Lauria will present a common definition of gambling, review types of gambling, and state policies. Spring 2026 MSW Prison Trip
Northern State Prison Trip: Since 2003, this annual experiential learning program has provided MSW students with a rare opportunity to witness the realities of a high-security prison and understand its disproportionate impact on communities of color. Students tour the facility, observe prison cells and social work departments, and participate in a speaker's forum where they engage in conversations with incarcerated individuals about their experiences and the criminal justice system's impact on families. This powerful experience offers invaluable insight into a population in critical need of social services and deepens understanding of how the corrections system affects clients across all practice areas.
