We live in environments characterized by trauma, whether by climate change, terrorism, public policies, or other potentially traumatic events. Dr. Carol Tosone will address the implications of shared trauma on clinical practice and the role of organizations in mitigating its impact on the clinician. Shared trauma refers to the clinician's dual exposure to collective traumatic events, both as a citizen and as a provider exposed to the trauma narratives of their clients. While shared trauma impacts the clinician in their personal and professional lives and has been linked to clinician burnout, it can also encourage shared resilience and professional post-traumatic growth.
