Spring 2026 MSW Prison Trip
Northern State Prison Trip: Since 2003, this annual experiential learning program has provided MSW students with a rare opportunity to witness the realities of a high-security prison and understand its disproportionate impact on communities of color. Students tour the facility, observe prison cells and social work departments, and participate in a speaker's forum where they engage in conversations with incarcerated individuals about their experiences and the criminal justice system's impact on families. This powerful experience offers invaluable insight into a population in critical need of social services and deepens understanding of how the corrections system affects clients across all practice areas.
