Cornelia Lecture

The 2025 Brother William B. Cornelia Lecture will be held at 12:30 p.m. on Wednesday, September 17, in the Murphy Auditorium. The Cornelia Lecture celebrates the life of Iona's first president, Br. Cornelia, by reaffirming Iona's commitment to being a caring academic community, inspired by the legacy of Blessed Edmund Rice and the Christian Brothers and the liberating power of education. This year's lecturer is Father Sam Sawyer, S.J. editor in chief of America Media. Father Sawyer entered the Jesuits in 2004 and was ordained a priest in 2014. He previously served as an associate pastor at Holy Trinity Church in Washington, D.C. and currently assists the pastoral team at St. Francis Xavier Church in New York City.
