St. Luke Tabernacle Church Service

SEP Calendar Greetings Members of the Nazareth University Family! I am Rev. Linda Hickmon Evans, and I serve as the Pastor of St. Luke Tabernacle. Our services begin at 10:00 am. Please, consider this an official invitation to join us for worship.   When considering how St. Luke came to be in partnership with Nazareth University, the words of CeCe Winans comes to mind as she sings ‘Of the Goodness of God.’ The lyrics say of God, ‘that all my life you have been faithful, all my life you have been so good.’ In short, as I understand this opportunity as a direct intervention of God’s faithfulness toward me and our congregation.   As you have already been a blessing to us, it is our hope that we will enrich the lives of those we encounter at Naz. I look forward to meeting you and having you actively participate in the life of St. Luke Tabernacle.   , Respectfully, Rev. Linda Hickmon Evans, Ph.D. . "Contention" art exhibit by Kathleen Sherin

SEP Calendar On exhibit August 21 - September 21, "I approach the art of printmaking as an explorer in search of making a discovery. Abstract work for this exhibition was guided by the working concept of 'conflicting systems' with a sub-text of 'searching for connections' and develops its narrative through contrasts. The continuing dialogue that informs almost all my past and present work explores the distinction and overlap of our human experience as both 'physical/biological and a thinking/emotional' beings. My conceptual and working methods include contrasts of energy vs. stasis, fluid vs. solid, gestures vs. slow percussive movements and physicality vs perception. The resulting prints are the symbol of an interplay and balance between perception, reason and intuition." (Kathleen Sherin) Sherin’s prints are unique, one-of-a-kind, hand-pulled pieces.

Linda Hickmon Evans, Ph.D. . Linda Hickmon Evans, Ph.D. . Deeper Than the Skin

SEP Calendar Deeper Than the Skin Born three days apart, with ancestry coming through the same portal of history, Richmond, VA, Reggie Harris and Greg Greenway are on a pilgrimage together, one that began three decades ago. The racial divisions that are the reality of America positioned them in two different worlds, but the amazing bonds of music, respect, admiration, and shared vision have brought them together as friends and colleagues. The musical and spiritual blooming of this history has become Deeper than the Skin, the telling of their stories through words and music. It is a quintessentially American story: the gift they have to give is how to face struggle with hope, and even joy.   Harris is a powerful interpreter of the history of music and song on the Underground Railroad and in the modern Civil Rights Movement. A teaching artist at the Kennedy Center, a Woodrow Wilson Scholars Fellow, and director of music education for the Living Legacy Project, Harris was awarded the 2018 Magic Penny Award by the… .
