Sounds of Summer concert
Enjoy an evening of jazz, soul and contemporary music at 5:30 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 30 at Youngberg Hill Winery (10660 SW Youngberg Hill Rd, McMinnville). This year's annual Sounds of Summer benefit concert features Grammy-nominated vocalist Julianne Johnson and acclaimed pianist Michael Allen Harrison. The event supports the university's music program. General admission tickets are $25. Guests should bring lawn chairs or blankets; wine and other beverages will be available for purchase. Linfield Theatre: "The 24 Hour Plays"
The Linfield Theatre season will kick off with the third installment of The 24 Hour Plays, a raucous event that puts students on the clock to make the best art they can, from inception of an idea through production of a performance. On Friday, Sept. 11 at 7:30 p.m. student playwrights, actors, directors and designers will gather to receive a writing prompt that challenges the students to write, rehearse and perform new plays in a 24–hour period. By 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 12, the theatre doors will open to audiences to come see what the students have created. A second performance will be offered at 9:30 p.m. that night. Admission is free and on a first–come, first–served basis. Some content may not be suitable for all audiences. The 24 Hour Plays®? is presented under a license and with the participation of The 24 Hour Plays®?
