Red Cross Blood Drive (RVC)

Rogue Community College will be closed for Juneteenth, the newest federal holiday marking the day enslaved people in Texas learned they were free, on June 19. Juneteenth is also known as Emancipation Day.  Juneteenth is an annual remembrance of June 19, 1865, when Union soldiers enforced the Emancipation Proclamation of 1863, freeing all remaining slaves in Texas.   In accordance with the Presidential Proclamation enacting this federal holiday, Rogue Community College is committed to the work of promoting equity along with social and racial justice. The name “Juneteenth” is a blend of two words: “June” and “nineteenth.” It's believed to be the oldest African-American holiday, with annual celebrations on June 19th in different parts of the country dating back to 1866.
