"Denim Day" 2024 for SAAM (Virtual)

Sexual Assault Awareness Month (SAAM) is celebrating its 23rd anniversary and this year's theme is "Building Connected Communities." We invite you to join the RCC Counseling Department for events throughout April that will highlight awareness, education, and support for survivors. "Denim Day": practice solidarity and support survivors of sexual assault by bringing awareness to victim blaming and destructive myths that surround sexual violence. At RCC, we encourage you to post a picture of yourself wearing denim with the hashtag  #denimday on April 24, 2024, on the RCC Campus app. Posting a picture of yourself supporting this event enters you for a chance to win a giveaway for one of four $25 gift cards, sponsored by ASGRCC. Red Cross & Ospreys Society Blood Drive (RWC)

Rogue Community College will be closed for Juneteenth, the newest federal holiday marking the day enslaved people in Texas learned they were free, on June 19, 2024. Juneteenth is also known as Emancipation Day.  Juneteenth is an annual remembrance of June 19, 1865, when Union soldiers enforced the Emancipation Proclamation of 1863, freeing all remaining slaves in Texas.   In accordance with the Presidential Proclamation enacting this federal holiday, Rogue Community College is committed to the work of promoting equity along with social and racial justice. The name “Juneteenth” is a blend of two words: “June” and “nineteenth.” It's believed to be the oldest African-American holiday, with annual celebrations on June 19th in different parts of the country dating back to 1866.
