World Culture Day

Student Activities World Culture Day is a day to celebrate different cultures around the world. It helps students learn to respect and appreciate people’s traditions, food, and languages. Studium Generale: Memory Thread with Holli Margell

Arts & Culture Longhouse Guest Artist, Holli Margell, began her photography career while a Peninsula College student, graduating in 2002. An Eastern Shawnee tribe of Oklahoma citizen, she will share her art photography exhibition, Memory Thread which explores her ancestors removal from the Ohio territory to Oklahoma. Born and raised in Seattle, Holli Margell grew up fascinated by photography. Gifted a polaroid camera at age 10, Holli focused on her family and documenting her siblings growing up. At 17-years-old her family moved to the Olympic Peninsula when she enrolled in Peninsula College. A love for photography deepened with photojournalism. Holli’s art photography includes exploring and honoring her family’s history. Currently, in her studio located in West Seattle, Holli focuses on client work with Holli with an I Photography. Reception for Longhouse Guest Artist Holli Margell

Arts & Culture Longhouse Guest Artist Holli Margell will first offer a presentation during Studium Generale beginning at 12:35 pm in the Little Theater. Holli began her photography career while a Peninsula College student, graduating in 2002. An Eastern Shawnee tribe of Oklahoma citizen, she will share her art photography exhibition, Memory Thread which explores her ancestor’s removal from the Ohio territory to Oklahoma. An exhibition of Holli’s art will be on display in the Peninsula College Longhouse during spring quarter. Panel Discussion with Washington State Supreme Court Justices

Washington Supreme Court Oral Arguments

Arts & Culture The Traveling Court program, established in 1985, was created to make the work of the Court more accessible by bringing real cases into communities across Washington. It’s a powerful way to connect classroom learning with real-world application. Oral arguments will be held Thursday, May 28 in the Little Theater, and will include: 9:00 am • State v. Martinez-Loyola (No. 104658-8), This case explores how courts evaluate potential racial or ethnic bias in jury deliberations and what standard should be used when reviewing those decisions. 10:00 am • Baker v. Studium Generale: The Value of Volunteering

Arts & Culture Join Transitional Studies faculty member Cheyenne Tuller as she presents The Value in Volunteering. Tuller will share her story of volunteering through the decades of her life, focusing on her 50s, when she has been volunteering more than ever. Tuller will answer questions such as, Why do I spend so much time volunteering? What have I learned about myself? What have I learned about my community? What is the value in giving back? Cheyenne Tuller has taught high school completion courses at Peninsula College since 2018. She earned her BA in English and MA in American Studies, and has been teaching and volunteering for over 30 years. Digital Storytelling Demonstration & Showcase

Honors Symposium

Arts & Culture Peninsula College warmly invites students, faculty, and community members to attend the 2026 Honors Symposium on June 2, 2026. This culminating event celebrates the outstanding achievements of students in the Honors Program as they present their Capstone Projects—original works born from a year of critical inquiry, creativity, and scholarship. Brianna Palenik’s Original Play, The Hands at Twelve & Twelve: Show dates are May 29 & 30 at 7:00 pm; June 6 at 7:00 pm; June 7 at 2:00 pm. All performances are at Peninsula College’s Little Theater.   The Honors Symposium will include an excerpt from the play as well as Palenik’s perspectives of what this play, her first original full-length work and her first time directing, has taught her. Brianna Palenik is a Running Start Senior and Peninsula College Honors student. Brianna is graduating with her high school diploma and an Associate of Arts with Honors this June. Spring Jazz Concert

Studium Generale: Great Decisions with Dr. Lynn Ilon & Roger Wagner

Arts & Culture Today's presentation is brought to us from the Great Decisions group. Roger Wagner will discuss the reason for the establishment of the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), its role through the decades, and how the Republican Project 2025 affects its authority. Dr. Ilon will discuss the structure of U.S. taxation, public debt, and their recent significant changes. Shifts in taxation, capital gains, and deficit financing have altered who bears the burden of government revenue and debt. Ilon will examine how federal taxes and borrowing interact, and explore how these shifts have increasingly affected middle- and lower-income Americans.
