Studium Generale: Great Decisions with Dr. Lynn Ilon & Roger Wagner

Arts & Culture Today's presentation is brought to us from the Great Decisions group. Roger Wagner will discuss the reason for the establishment of the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), its role through the decades, and how the Republican Project 2025 affects its authority. Dr. Ilon will discuss the structure of U.S. taxation, public debt, and their recent significant changes. Shifts in taxation, capital gains, and deficit financing have altered who bears the burden of government revenue and debt. Ilon will examine how federal taxes and borrowing interact, and explore how these shifts have increasingly affected middle- and lower-income Americans. Tidepools Magazine Launch Party

Arts & Culture Join us for an evening celebrating the release of the latest issue of Tidepools, Peninsula College’s student literary and arts magazine. This event showcases outstanding student and community work in writing, visual art, and music, and brings together contributors, judges, editors, faculty, and community members to honor the creativity and voices of our community. The program will include an open house with time to connect with contributors, explore the new issue, and browse a pop-up art exhibit, followed by brief remarks, selected readings, and recognition of contest winners. Student Activities Peninsula College's graduation ceremonies take place in the air-conditioned gym, with ceremonies at 11:00 am and 1:30 pm, depending on the degree or certificate you have earned. The 11:00 am ceremony is for degrees in Associate in Applied Science, Bachelor of Applied Science, Associate in Nursing, One-Year Certificate, and High School Diplomas. A reception will be provided on Robins' Green starting at noon. Pirate Pitch Entrepreneur Competition

Student Activities —Peninsula College will host its inaugural Pirate Pitch competition on Monday, June 23, from 10:00 a.m. to noon, showcasing the creativity, innovation, and entrepreneurial spirit of Peninsula College students. The event will take place in the Little Theater on the Peninsula College campus, with doors opening at 9:00 a.m. in the Peninsula College Pirate Union Buildind (PUB), where attendees can meet participating student entrepreneurs, network with community members, and learn more about the business ideas being developed by local students. Peninsula College students will compete for cash prizes by presenting their original business concepts to a panel of judges. The competition will feature a mix of pre-recorded and live presentations, followed by a question-and-answer session in which judges will evaluate each entrepreneur's vision, feasibility, innovation, and presentation skills.
