The Leatherby Libraries is thrilled to announce the 18th Annual Community of Readers (CoR) beginning June 1, 2026, and ending on August 13, 2026.
CoR is a summer reading program created to encourage Chapman students, staff, faculty, and alumni to engage with reading and community discussions.
Participants will read a book (physical or e-book) and submit a 2-3 sentence review to the CoR blog to be entered to win a prize! If you are looking for books to check out, feel free to search the Leatherby Libraries' extensive catalog!
Meetings will take place at noon on June 25, July 23, and August 13. Prize drawings will occur at these meetings. The August 13 meeting will conclude the program for the year with a lunch celebration provided for all participants and remarks from the Dean of the Leatherby Libraries.

The Chapman Labyrinth is based on the 12th century design in the nave of Chartres Cathedral, France. Labyrinths come in many shapes and have been important in a number of spiritual and secular traditions dating back 4,000 years. Hailed as a “truly exceptional tenor” by the National Review, Ben Bliss has established himself as one of the most exciting performers on today’s operatic stage, both in his native America and internationally. Ben has been cited as “an exemplar of the Mozartean tenor” for his “purity of tone, vocal control and artistic sensitivity” (Opera Warhorses). Ben was a 2021 recipient of the Metropolitan Opera’s prestigious Beverly Sills Award. His numerous other accolades include the 2016 Martin E. The Jerry Douglas Band
Dobro master and 14-time Grammy® winner Jerry Douglas is a bandleader, producer, session musician, instructor, and a very funny guy! He’s produced over a hundred albums, and he’s featured on over 1,600 studio albums. He’s a member of Alison Krauss & Union Station, co-bandleader for Transatlantic Sessions in the United Kingdom, founder of the Grammy®-winning bluegrass super-group The Earls of Leicester, and he leads The Jerry Douglas Band. Since 2017, The Jerry Douglas Band has been forging new paths into the musical horizon with deep roots in bluegrass and folk that spread out into the Americana and jazz landscapes.
